Practically every person sooner or later in his life is subjected to insect bites. Even if you live in urban conditions without walking in the forest or in the field, insects can still bite you.

Fortunately, in our latitudes, insect bites are in most cases non-fatal. Most often these are mosquitoes, wasps and bees, the bites of which can cause a lot of trouble, especially if there is an allergic reaction to the bites of these insects.

Important!
From insect bites, it is necessary to drip 1-2 drops of apple cider vinegar to the site of the bite. This will eliminate the unpleasant consequences of bites and the action on the skin of poison or saliva of insects in the form of itching and burning.

After stings of bees, mosquitoes or wasps, either red spots or even unpleasant and painful blisters appear on the body. Also, an unpleasant itching or even pain occurs at the site of the bite. The bite swells and itches, it is impossible to scratch it, so as not to bring the infection into the wound.

Lotions from plantain juice, which should be prepared in the form of slurry, are fine from bites of bees and wasps, finely chopping clean leaves of plantain.

Such a simple folk remedy perfectly helps from mosquito bites: peeled and washed raw potatoes should be finely chopped, mixed with squeezed lemon juice and raspberry tincture (flowers and leaves in a ratio of 1: 5).
Inflammation, itching and unpleasant pain on the skin also perfectly eliminates parsley juice.

Such sore pruritus and swelling on the skin after insect bites can also be reduced by lotions of herbal decoction. It will take St. John's wort, oak bark and mint. Take 1 equal part of each ingredient.

The calculation is as follows: 1 tablespoon of grass needs a glass of boiling water. Pour boiling water over the grass, boil for 5 minutes and then insist 1 hour. The cooled solution is applied to bitten places with a cotton or cotton-gauze swab.

But either all “innovations” are a divorce for naive buyers, or insects quickly adapt, and there is not much sense in all these creams, balms and sprays.

Both bit and bite, one has only to be away from the city and closer to mother nature. Therefore, many have long given up on advertised insect control products and prefer folk remedies for treating bites.

Is it necessary to talk about how unpleasant the bites of mosquitoes, midges, and even more so bees and wasps? Of course not. Almost every one even once underwent the assault of these "little things."

Okay, if everything was limited to unpleasant sensations. But insects are carriers of many infections that enter the human bloodstream and sometimes cause much more problems than just itching and swelling.

How to get rid of mosquito bites at home

With the advent of summer, we often encounter nasty buzzing mosquitoes. No matter how hard we try to prevent our meeting with them, no matter how hard we try to defend ourselves, they still affect our skin with their bites.

Important!
But still, you need to try to protect your body from annoying insects. If you want to protect your home from their penetration - close all windows, and, in extreme cases, if this is not possible, then hang nets on the windows. Mosquitoes are also scared away by the smell of daisies, elderberries and tomatoes.

If at night you want to get rid of mosquito bites at home, take a bath with chamomile oils, and at night you don’t have to worry about what they bite you with. Once upon a time, a decoction of wheatgrass or other weeds was used to scare away bloodsuckers.

If in the summer evening you decided to go for a walk, then get rid of mosquito bites quickly, various sprays and creams will help you. A drop of essential oil in a cologne is also suitable for you. If you are in nature, you can throw a branch of juniper or conifer in a fire.

But if, on the other hand, this insect has bitten you, first wash the bite site with warm water and soap, burn with liquid ammonia and apply cold to the bite for an hour.

Or anoint the bite site with sour cream, this will relieve the itching. To get rid of mosquito bites, you need to dissolve in 100 grams of water half a teaspoon of soda, this solution needs to be lubricated with bites. Or, instead of soda, you can lubricate the bite with a light, pink solution of potassium permanganate.

You can lubricate the bite several times a day with tea tree or aloe juice. Or lubricate with onion juice, which will also help with itching. To soothe the itch, rub the bite with a banana peel. You can take a warm bath, and within half an hour all the bite will resolve.

You can also be saved by this recipe: take a few milliliters of calendula oil, a handful of dried lavender flowers and a handful of dried lemon balm flowers and a few teaspoons of cinnamon powder. Within 15 days, insist it all under the sun. Then you can apply this oil to the site of bites.

Swelling from the bite can be removed with a cooling ointment “Asterisk” or a drop of “Valocordin” on a bitten place. Also, a leaf of plantain, parsley or mint can be attached to the affected area.

Advice!
They say that if you press on the bite with your fingernail, as if putting a cross, the itch should disappear. If the bite caused you an allergic reaction, drink an anti-allergic agent. Better yet, drink the medicine right after the bite without waiting for a reaction.

Remember that it’s best not to scratch the bite in the same way as an infection. Perhaps the following suggestion to soothe the itch may seem strange to you, but it really works. Squeeze a little toothpaste into the bite and rub it, it will be easier.

Do not be very afraid of such bites, they will not bring much harm to your health. The mosquitoes that live with us do not tolerate diseases. After the bite there will only be an unpleasant sensation and itching. Since, biting us, they inject a special substance that brings us discomfort.

But remember that if over time the swelling of the bite and itching do not go away, you need to see a doctor for help.

Treatment of insect bites folk remedies

Blood-sucking insects attack warm-blooded animals and humans, because they need hemoglobin to continue offspring. Bees, wasps and hornets attack in order to protect themselves and their home. Often, a person tolerates insect bites normally, but in the presence of an allergy (especially in children), acute reactions in the form of a rash, swelling and itching are possible.

Mosquito bites

The summer months, except for hot days, are “famous” for the night activity of mosquitoes - the most greedy blood-sucking insects. And if males have enough plant juice in their habitat, then females sometimes overcome up to 60 km in search of prey.

The largest mosquito populations are represented in regions with high average daily temperature and humidity (tropics, subtropics). In such areas there are very dangerous species that not only drink blood, but also carry a variety of infections.

People living in temperate climates are more fortunate. Although not enough to feel completely safe. Even the air of the northern latitudes with the onset of heat is filled with clouds of bugs constantly buzzing overhead, insects from which it is not always possible.

Symptoms. A person usually learns about a mosquito bite after the fact. The insect is practically silent, except with a squeak, sits on the body, pierces the skin with a proboscis, sucks the right amount of blood and flies away (of course, if the timely wave of the victim’s hand does not interrupt the “meal”).

But even a slight injection is enough to penetrate the poison, causing itching, redness and swelling. If a person suffers from allergies, then an acute inflammatory reaction is quite possible:

  • temperature increase;
  • blistering;
  • hives;
  • an increase in adjacent lymph nodes.

Sometimes a person has nervous and intestinal disorders, and in rare cases, even anaphylactic shock. In turn, infection of the wound with pathogenic bacteria can provoke suppuration.

First aid. What is the first aid for allergic reactions to bites? With pronounced symptoms, an ambulance should be called immediately. And while doctors are on the way, you can take the following actions:

  1. Wash the bite area with cold running water and soap.
  2. Treat with anti-inflammatory agent (hydrogen peroxide, etc.).
  3. Do not scratch the wound in the affected area!
  4. Prevent an increase in edema by applying ice to the bite site.
  5. Use an antihistamine ointment (e.g., Fenistil).
  6. Take antihistamines (Suprastin, etc.).

In most cases, after completing the first three points, a person forgets about the bite after 20 minutes. Not even every child will have a rash and swelling! If an allergy sufferer was attacked by a mosquito, then you can not do without special tools and medical help.

Attention!
Treatment. Mosquitoes often leave behind a swelling that constantly itches. Treatment of insect bites with folk remedies involves the elimination of such symptoms.

Drug collection. The anti-inflammatory properties of mint leaves, oak bark and St. John's wort grass have long been known. To prepare the broth, the ingredients are dried and ground, mixed in equal proportions. The recipe itself is as follows:

  • Pour 1 tablespoon of the mixture with 1 glass of boiling water.
  • Stew for 15-20 minutes.
  • Cool and filter.
  • Wet gauze in broth and apply to the affected area.

Soda. Baking soda is used both in cooking and to eliminate the effects of mosquito attacks:

  • 1 teaspoon of soda is poured with 1 cup of warm water.
  • Stir thoroughly.
  • Moisten gauze and apply to the bite site.

Alcohol. Another way is to burn the wound with alcohol. For this, medical alcohol (sold in each pharmacy), diluted with water in a ratio of 1: 5, is suitable, but you can use ordinary vodka and cologne.

Such a remedy will not help every person, although in most cases the itching will disappear. And if you do not scratch the place of the bite, then soon there will be no trace of it.

Midge bites

If the mosquito is easy to notice, then the midge is so small that its attack sometimes becomes a complete surprise. This is the case for a single representative.

But usually midges attack in large numbers, especially in places of their natural habitat - forests and on the coast of water bodies. Insects are looking for food in the daytime, which is another difference from mosquitoes, which hunt, as a rule, at night.

Symptoms. When bitten, midges emit a strong toxin. In addition, insect saliva contains a natural analgesic. It is he who allows the pest to go unnoticed during the suction of blood.

After a bite, a person develops a fairly large swelling and severe itching, which again and again makes scratching the site of the lesion. If the midge attacked an allergic person, then a local and systemic response of the body is possible:

  1. redness and skin rash;
  2. prolonged and severe itching;
  3. swelling (sometimes affecting large areas);
  4. temperature increase up to 39 ° C;
  5. heart palpitations;
  6. lowering or increasing blood pressure;
  7. swollen lymph nodes;
  8. anaphylactic shock.

First aid. With a systemic allergic reaction, you must consult a doctor without fail. First aid from mosquito and midge bites is almost identical, with the exception of some differences:

  • Itching is so severe that it is sometimes difficult to refrain from scratching the affected area. An adult can pick himself up, but children will have to be watched.
  • The bite site is allowed to be lubricated with Furacilin and bandaged.
  • In order to prevent infection (it is important with frequent combing), external agents, such as Tsindol, should be used.

Treatment. Most often, after a midge bite, itching and swelling are a concern. You can deal with them by simple means, although this will take some time.

Important!
Menthol Ointments. Getting rid of scabies is not easy. Ointments containing menthol will help in this. This compound will have a cooling effect on the bite site, reduce itching and distract attention. If such a remedy is not at hand, then a mint toothpaste is suitable as a replacement. However, in the presence of open wounds, it is worthwhile to refrain from treatment in such ways.

Veronica officinalis. In principle, remedies for mosquito bites are recommended for mosquito bites. But alternative medicines act individually for each person: one will be helped right away, the other - the next day, and the third will not notice the changes at all.

An excellent plant for relieving inflammation, itching and allergies is considered Veronica officinalis. Prepare it as follows:

  • Dry and grind the leaves.
  • 1 tablespoon of raw material is poured with 1 glass of boiling water.
  • Cook for 20 minutes over low heat.
  • Cool and filter.
  • Apply to the skin in 2 ways:
    • wipe the bite every hour;
    • apply a compress every 2 hours, wrap it with polyethylene and bandage it.

The tool helps against bites of both insects and other arthropods.

Bites of bees, wasps and hornets

Bees are actively used in medicine. Their poison helps with diseases of the joints and blood, improves immunity and increases the overall tone of the body, stabilizes the central nervous system. But it is in small doses. And in large doses, poison can kill a person: bites of 500 bees lead to death. If an allergy sufferer is attacked, then sometimes 2-3 bites are enough for him.

Wasps and hornets do not leave a sting in the sacrifice, because it is smooth. In addition, this feature allows these insects to attack repeatedly. In turn, the bees die after a bite: their sting has notches and remains in the body of the victim, which is akin to the loss of an important organ.

Symptoms. Hymenoptera insects are much more toxic than mosquitoes and midges. The reaction to an attack by a bee, wasp or hornet is expressed differently.

With one or two bites in a person, the affected area is very swollen and redder, and acute pain syndrome also occurs. With multiple - general intoxication of the body is possible, which is expressed in the following symptoms:

  • chills;
  • dizziness;
  • increased heart rate;
  • difficulty breathing (shortness of breath);
  • pain in the heart;
  • nausea and vomiting (sometimes);
  • loss of consciousness (rarely).

If the concentration of toxins in the blood exceeds the permissible norm, then a person dies from suffocation (bees, wasps, hornets) or cardiac arrest (wasps, hornets).

In allergy sufferers, in addition to the voiced symptoms, itching and rash on the skin, Quincke's edema often appear, and occasionally anaphylactic shock, which can also lead to death, causing spasm of the heart muscle and bronchi.

Advice!
In addition, cases of cerebral edema and subsequent coma are known in clinical practice.

First aid. After a mass attack of hymenopteran insects, it is necessary to call a team of doctors, and if a person previously suffered from any allergies, then this must be done without fail. Pressing or rubbing the bite site is not recommended, since such an effect will contribute to the spread of poison.

In addition, you should not kill a stinging insect - its brethren will flock to the smell, which is fraught with an additional attack. The bee herself will die, but you should try to protect yourself from wasps and hornets - for example, hide in the house.

And in no case should you drink alcohol, even if it seems that such anesthesia is required. Ethanol will only contribute to the spread of poison. First aid for a bite of a bee, wasp and hornet is in such activities.

Remove the sting with tweezers or a needle (with a bee sting), being careful not to catch a small bag of poison. The tool is pre-disinfected (you can hold it over a fire and wipe it with alcohol).

Extract poison from under the skin. To do this, apply gauze soaked in a solution of soda (1 teaspoon per 1 glass of water) to the place of the bite, or a piece of wet sugar.

Neutralize the poison that remains in the wound. After a bite, the bees wash the affected area with soap, wasps and hornets with table vinegar diluted with water in equal proportions.

Disinfect the wound with hydrogen peroxide or other antiseptic.
Cool the site of the bite with ice to suppress the development of edema. Antiallergic drugs are used. The same antihistamine ointments and tablets are suitable, as with mosquito bites.

Attention!
The first measures are very important. They allow you to avoid severe intoxication of the body. But allergy sufferers react to bites differently from ordinary people, so the lack of medical intervention can cost a person life.

Treatment. The sites of Hymenoptera bites will hurt for several days. To reduce the brightness of the pain syndrome, traditional medicine recommends using simple means, especially in the absence of special pharmaceutical preparations.

Parsley. Parsley is growing, probably, in every garden, and there are no problems with it in the city. Such a recipe will help relieve inflammation and eliminate pain:

  1. Parsley leaves are chopped and poured with boiling water for 5 minutes.
  2. Filter.
  3. Apply gruel to the bite site.
  4. Bandage for 2-3 hours.
  5. At the end of the period, a new portion is applied.
  6. After a day, the tumor will significantly decrease in size.

Olive oil. Olive oil contains polyunsaturated fatty acids, which restore tissue, relieve itching and flushing, nourish the skin. To obtain the effect, you need to lubricate the affected area 3-4 times a day. If there is no olive oil, then sunflower oil is also suitable, although the concentration of useful compounds in it is much lower.

Bow. Not everyone likes the smell of peeled onions, but its juice contains substances that neutralize bee venom. In addition, the plant has an effective bactericidal effect, which will also prevent infection of the wound.

To prepare the medicine, it is necessary to chop 1 onion and apply the pulp to the affected area. In this case, you can not avoid burning, but it eclipses the pain of a bite.

Aloe. Agave has a vasoconstrictor and anti-inflammatory effect. It is actively used for colds, but with a bee sting, the plant will also help. To do this, large leaves are cut in half and applied to the wound. Useful compounds will contribute to the speedy removal of edema, the elimination of itching and healing.

Prevention

You can protect yourself from insect attacks, and this is quite simple. The pharmaceutical industry produces various products, and Anti Wasp, Aries, Off are considered the most effective repellents for children and adults.

Important!
However, each person can choose a suitable personal remedy for him among the whole variety, however, it should be remembered that the effect of such drugs is limited in time. If the manufacturer indicates a high duration, then this also means increased toxicity of the drug.

Near lakes and rivers, on flowering lawns and in forests it is rarely possible to do without repellents. But you can significantly reduce the likelihood of insect attacks:

  • in the summer months you should wear closed clothes when walking outdoors in the evening;
  • baby strollers should be fitted with safety nets;
  • do not provoke bees, wasps and hornets with an active wave of hands (the safe one will not react at all - they will fly away);
  • never climb into insect hives (the beekeepers know firsthand about the danger of such an intervention);
  • when walking through a forest or meadow, do not wear bright clothes, since it attracts all lovers of nectar (by the way, in this way, flowers lure insects);
  • refrain from walking barefoot near flowering plants.
