What smells mice are afraid of: get rid of rodents in a humane way

what smells are mice afraid of
What smells are mice afraid of

Hello everyone, my dears. All my life I dislike various small rodents.

It’s not that I feel panic at their sight - they just are unpleasant for me. And then they also made raids in my pantry: they had already chewed all my bags of vegetables.

Fighting them with the help of ordinary mousetraps did not bring much result, and a lazy cat hunting sessions are categorically against. I had to look for more effective ways to deal with mice. Want to know what smells mice are afraid of? How can you quickly get rid of these annoying rodents? Below I will tell you in detail.

How to get rid of mice in the grandmother's way

Not everyone knows that mice are very sensitive to odors. Today I will tell you about herbs that are natural helpers in the fight against rodents and will help protect your home and harvest from rodents.

Rat Rider or Blackroot

For a long time among the people the black root plant (fresh and dry) has been considered the most effective way to fight mice and rats.

Important!
Powder from dried rhizomes, fresh juice or a strong decoction of the roots of this plant is used with a food bait to poison rodents, and the armful of fresh or dried grass laid in the room scares off mice and rats so that they leave this place for a long time.

Rodents and insects are frightened off by the unpleasant smell of black root, which people do not feel at all. If you bring cut black root into the house, you can not worry about the safety of food on the shelves.

I advise you to spread the stems and seeds of black root everywhere underground, in pantries, in attics. To do this, rat-grass must be prepared in a special way.

Scalp fresh or dried plants with boiling water and put them in mouse holes, in the underfloor, barn, attic, hang them in heaps in a garden house or scatter them around fruit tree trunks.

Mice and rats are especially afraid of tenacious seeds, which “tightly” stick to their skin. In order for rodents to leave your site for a long time, it is enough to plant 20-25 black root plants on a site of 6 hundred parts.

They should be placed closer to fruit trees and bushes, as well as the house and the barn. Black root, planted in bunches of hay, can scare off rodents, preventing them from smelling to equip the rodents with a nest.

Rat-rat is very toxic, especially root and seeds. Be careful. The winged expression "Belens overeat" refers to this plant.

Elder

Elderberry has a deterrent effect against mice and rats, etc. to. they cannot stand its unpleasant smell. Black elderberry roots secrete prussic acid.

The plant is moderately toxic to mammals, therefore, where elderberry grows, small rodents will not settle.

Advice!
People from ancient times knew about these wonderful properties of elderberry and therefore planted trees near sheds, warehouses, grain barns to scare away mice, rats, layered hay stacks and tied apple tree trunks with branches.

It has been observed that the buildings around which the red elderberry grows are clean of mice and rats. Gardeners confidently claim that there are no pests around the red elderberry.

In the villages today, as in former times, elderberry branches are cut and laid out underground.

Wormwood - “bitter grass”

The word is a sigh, the word is a groan.
The word is bitter, like a shackle, and sad, like bitterness.
The glade of wormwood is smoking on the hills, and the air is full of its bitterness ...

Everyone knows this grass. Strong pleasant bitter-tart aroma of wormwood planted around the perimeter of the garden, protects it from many pests. In antiquity, sheafs of bread were transferred with dried wormwood, protecting them from mice.

And now the tree trunks are tied with wormwood for the winter. To scare away rodents in the house and underground, dried wormwood grass is laid out at the sites of the appearance of mice and rats.

Bunches of this grass are wrapped around the perimeter of the storehouse (pantry, cellar).

Wild or wild mint

Another useful herb that almost everyone knows. Properly dried peppermint, as well as peppermint tincture on alcohol, well repels rats and mice.

Rodents will not ruin your food if you put a small bunch of mint leaves next to them. And if you breed mint thickets around the house, then the mice will bypass your house.

Attention!
Did you know that mint has many other beneficial properties. For example, crushed mint leaves placed at the bottom of the cabinet will save you from annoying moths. Afraid of the smell of mint and domestic ants. If you spread an ant path with juice of fresh mint leaves, the insects will leave your home.

But to repel mosquitoes, I advise you to put several branches of fresh mint near your pillow. And the smell is pleasant, and mosquitoes do not bother.

Tansy

In the sultry summer, when the mixed herbs smell meadows, the smell of tansy stands out sharply against other smells - it smells distinctly of camphor.

Since ancient times, tansy is used in everyday life as a natural insecticide, because flies, mosquitoes, midges simply do not digest it!

Its use as a remedy for flies is popular with housewives. It is enough to sprinkle the powder of tansy with meat - and the flies will not even come close to it.

But if you put a bunch of tansy flowers in the room, then the annoying flies will leave him for a long time. It is good to use tansy and ordinary to combat moths, bugs and fleas.

Mice also really dislike the smell of tansy. Therefore, I advise you to decompose it by bundling 3-5 stems in bundles, everywhere - not only in the house, but also in the basement. And where tansy lies - it will always be clean.

Chamomile

The smell of chamomile flowers is very fond of people, but does not like mice. Therefore, for a long time, experienced housewives have used chamomile to combat annoying rodents.

They scatter the fragrant heads of chamomile on the floor of the house, and bunches of dried flowers are kept in farm buildings where food is stored.

Ledum

Another good assistant in pest control: parasites, harmful insects and rodents. Know that fumigating grass with rosemary will expel all flies and mosquitoes from your home.

Important!
And the mice will not enter the room if you place branches of rosemary in the corners of the rooms and near the holes - of course, having previously made sure that its smell does not spoil the life of the “legitimate” inhabitants of the house.

I advise you to shift clothes in rosemary branches in cupboards and chests to scare away moths. Ledum will help you no worse than naphthalene.

What smells are mice afraid of

To fight mice in apartments, you can use not only chemicals and traps, but also folk remedies. Their advantages are that they are absolutely harmless to humans, but they do not kill mice, but only scare them away.

Using it as the main method is still not worth it, but in addition to other methods, smells help to quickly get rid of annoying pests.

Plants

Mice that live in homes do not tolerate odors:

  • peppermint
  • wormwood
  • black stink
  • grouse
  • milkweed
  • elderberries
  • black currant

The main difficulty is that plants need to be changed over time, as their smell disappears and the effect of folk remedies weakens.

To scare away mice, scatter plants in those places where pests were most often seen.

Spice

In addition to plants, mice do not tolerate the smell of coriander, so it can also be used to repel rodents.

Coriander (cilantro) is one of the oldest spices, which has a pronounced smell and is used not only in cooking, but also in folk medicine.

Buy coriander seeds or powder and sprinkle them in places where you think rodents can live. Particular attention should be paid to inaccessible places and kitchen cabinets, since it is there that pests first appear.

Synthetic Flavors

If none of the above means suits you, then you can also turn your attention to synthetic fragrances that can be purchased (or ordered online) in most major cities.

The main advantage of synthetic fragrances is that a person does not smell them, and mice do. They cost more than coriander or wormwood, but the effect is approximately the same.

Advice!
Remember that smells do not kill mice, but only scare them away from foods and secluded places.

In order to get rid of them for a long time, you must additionally use traps or modern tools that you can buy in specialized stores.

What smell will scare off rodents without harm to humans?

Gnawed things, disgusting rustle at night - these are not all the troubles that rodents bring to a person. Correct application of information about what smell mice and rats are afraid of will help get rid of the problem.

You do not have to observe the agony of animals, to open the floors in the house in search of decaying corpses - gray animals will simply leave your home.

Depending on the purpose of the room, the composition of the family and the availability of pets, choose the most suitable odorous substance, and you will get rid of unnecessary "tenants".

From non-residential premises

If mice or rats have occupied a garage or a barn where food supplies are not stored, an unpleasant odor or poisonous plants can be used.

What can scare off rodents in non-residential premises? They will not like the amber, which people also barely tolerate:

  • burned rubber;
  • burnt down or wool;
  • naphthalene;
  • cheap domestic perfumes and colognes of the Soviet era;
  • kerosene.

In a residential building, it is undesirable to use such a smell, even if the whole family suffers from the worst cold: harmful substances will still enter the body.

If you are not going to visit this room often or you will go there in just a few minutes, you can take advantage of such aromas, and the mice will leave you very soon.

Attention!
If you don’t want to periodically put on a gas mask and burn offensive products or spill corners with stinking substances, you can use poisonous plants.

The smell of tufts of rosemary or elderberry will scare off rodents. If mice are considered creatures with low intelligence, then rats are recognized as sufficiently intelligent animals that instinctively sense danger.

Essential oils of the first plant and hydrocyanic acid contained in the second are dangerous for all living things.

Black root is not in vain called a rat-rat: animals run up, sensing it. In this plant, rodents are scared away not only by the smell, but also by the seeds covered with thorns, which adhere firmly to their skin.

The poison is contained in all parts, be careful when working with black root.

Having decided to fight rodents with the help of dangerous plants, try not to make poisons come into contact with bare skin, use gloves. Dip bunches of herbs in boiling water and place near the mink.

You only need to update fragrant protection about once a week, and you can be calm about the safety of your belongings.

Fragrant apartment protection

It is undesirable to use poisonous plants at home. Even if you do not have children or pets, an accident may occur.

Suddenly, a friend comes in with her children or grandchildren, and while you indulge in a seagull for an intimate conversation, the kids will explore the most secluded corners and want to gnaw fragrant branches.

Important!
Or a neighbor with a playful puppy will drop in, who will be very interested to tear up a bunch of strange grass. You can use ledum or black root in a residential building only if the owners are 100% sure that they always have everything under control.

Why take the risk if there are completely safe herbs that mice and rats are afraid of smell:

  • pharmaceutical camomile;
  • peppermint;
  • tansy;
  • pyrethrum;
  • sagebrush.

Collect bunches of one plant or bunches of several herbs and arrange them indoors. There will be no danger to the inhabitants of the apartment, and a pleasant aroma of the meadow will appear in the house.

You can plant herbs in pots or boxes, then you do not have to update dried branches from time to time.

If you have difficulty collecting and purchasing odorous plants, use essential oils with similar aromas. Put a few drops on napkins or cotton swabs and shove them in holes.

Keep in mind that the smell from concentrated solutions is several times stronger than from representatives of the flora world, and the danger of allergies increases many times. Do not overdo it, otherwise you will run away from home before rodents.

At the cottage

In the infield, mice and rats do no less harm than indoors.

Gnawed trunks of fruit trees, eaten flower bulbs, damaged tubers and root crops - this is not a complete list of damage from rodents. The smell of plants will also help scare away gray animals from the estate.

Advice!
A garden bed or flowerbed, often fenced with bulbs of daffodils, can be considered protected from rodents. Wormwood, planted around the perimeter of the site, will be a barrier to the gray army.

Sow in the garden, where plants, coriander, attractive for animals, are planted, and they won’t go there. Around the house you can grow mint, then mice and rats will not get into the crevices and ventilation holes.

If you want to use black root or elderberry, place them in the corners where little children will not climb.

In the autumn, tie tree trunks with plants that have a smell that rodents are afraid of, and in spring you will not find damaged bark. The ground in near-stem circles can be covered with tops of tomatoes, the smell will scare away the gray robbers.

Cover the trenches for winter storage of vegetables with wormwood, so that mice and rats do not destroy your stocks. In the same way you can protect the cellar.

Not everyone can keep a cat at home, and not all city pets keep their hunting instincts.

All kinds of poisons and traps, no matter what modern technology they are created, pose a person with the need to contact a living or dead animal. For many women, such a test is worse than a torture chamber.

Use special odors to scare away rodents, and you do not have to fight them, mice and rats themselves will bypass your housing.

Folk remedies for the fight against mice

Various folk remedies will help get rid of rodents in the house, many of them are intended not to destroy them, but to scare them away.

The advantage of such methods is that they are often inexpensive, a person does not come into contact with a dead or living animal, their corpses do not decompose in the house.

Attention!
In addition, almost any such method is quite simple and it can be used by an untrained owner of a room with mice.

If there are mice in the house, then you can get rid of them in the following ways:

Chemical - allow you to remove pests in the house with the help of poisons. An effective chemical will kill even a large population of pests within 4-6 days.

The most popular drugs are: Storm, Rat Death, and others.

Mechanical - to get rid of pests will help mousetraps humane or inhumane type. Purchased frame mousetraps are traditionally in demand, and recently there has been more than one method of manufacturing traps using improvised material.

For example, plastic bottles, from which half are cut, then sharp petals are cut and bent inwards, a bait (lard, sausage, peanut butter) is placed on the bottom.

Mice of any size easily penetrate inside; petals will not let you get out of the bottle. A group of such products of 3-5 pieces is placed along the walls, at the mouse passages.

Folk - mice are afraid of an unpleasant smell, sounds, light, all this use folk remedies, so that the problem with uninvited guests can be solved, and quickly.

For example, chlorine poured into mouse passages will force them to move to live on the street. Also, the use of crushed ash is used successfully, which must be sprinkled on the floor - over the entire area of the basement, but this can be done in the country, leaving it for the winter, and in living quarters.

Norm bucket per 10 square meters. m. Ash strongly irritate the skin on the paws of pests (which can be rats). Any animal that comes under the influence of such a tool begins to lick it and as a result the skin gets even more injuries.

Important!
As a result, mice begin to simply be afraid of ash and can not be in the house. Such folk remedies allow you to get rid of unsolicited neighbors within a few days.

Biological - these are cats, some dog breeds, affection, each such pet is ready to cope even with a significant population of pests.

Often, one smell of mouse animals allows you to get rid of them, since mice will instinctively always be afraid of cats and other mouse traps.

What are the mice afraid of in the house?

Mice are often afraid of an unpleasant odor, a sharp change in the brightness of light, they can not tolerate a loud sound.

Therefore, folk remedies based on such knowledge can effectively deal with uninvited guests (rodents, bats also do not like it).

For example, if you plant the entire area around the perimeter with chamomile, mint, black currant, elderberry, and if there is a lot of it all, then the pest will ignore such protection only when there is not much choice.

In any other case, such folk remedies will, due to their smell, successfully protect a private house.

Folk remedies are different, but they all allow you to quickly get rid of any mouse (whether they are volatile or ordinary) located in the house, for example, using a loud, unexpectedly generated sound.

To do this, it is enough to install a music center in the basement and the building and turn it on several times a day at full power for 10-20 minutes.

Usually a rodent and a flying "neighbor" of a person in 2-3 days will prefer to change their housing, "help" him to make the right decision and the presence of an unpleasant smell in the room.

Advice!
For example, laid out in cabinets, nightstands, tansy, wormwood, mint leaves. Bright periodically and unexpectedly appearing light will help to make the atmosphere even more unbearable, which mice are also traditionally afraid of (bats also).

Any specified method is unpleasant for the "neighbors" of a person in and of itself, and all together such folk remedies allow you to get the desired result as quickly as possible.

If there is no cat

Traditionally, mice, including bats, are afraid of the pungent odor, which may be:

  • vegetable ones - for example, euphorbia, hazel grouse, wormwood, mint, coriander, elderberry will help get rid of the "tenants", if their branches, leaves are laid out near the mouse passages, in cabinets, a nightstand;
  • not vegetable - pests are afraid of the smell of ammonia, chlorine, vinegar. Therefore, if a large number of rags soaked in these substances appear in the passages, this will make it possible to get rid of rodents.

What kind of grass are rats and mice afraid of? Rodents are afraid of the smell of a large number of plants (mint, wormwood, tansy, hazel grouse, black stalk), they are laid out around the perimeter of the building, near the passages, in cabinets.

Such grass should be periodically updated, since the effectiveness of the smell decreases over time, this is the disadvantage of the method - it is seasonal.

But to get rid of such a minus will help cilantro (coreander), which can be bought all year round, this spice, bought in the form of powder, can simply be scattered on the floor.

Flying varieties of unsolicited "tenants" do not like the smell of peeled onions spread out in their shelter when such an operation is performed, you need to be careful about the bite that may occur during its operation.

Keep in mind that the smell of grass is not tolerated by mice, including volatiles, if they are not used to it, which often happens over time.

Is it true that mice are afraid of light? All uninvited guests of a person, including volatile species, do not like light, especially sharply arising, that is, such information is true.

Therefore, if the house will often be turned on / off, it will help get rid of rodents faster. Effective combined effects with the help of smell, sound, light.

What sound are mice afraid of? All animals "illegally" living in a person’s house are very afraid of a loud sound unusual for them, and unexpectedly arising.

Attention!
Its source can be anything, for example, a washing machine with a basin full of all kinds of metal stuff, working in the spin mode (women invented this method).

A music center that makes loud noises for several minutes in a row, turned on several times a day, quickly spoils the nervous system of rodents and is forced to leave, but when there is a cat in the house, you should think about it, because such a noisy lifestyle will be stressful for her .

Against the flying “guests”, you can use cans hung around the site, other items loud in the wind, it is important that their volume is large or they will remain in the house.

What smells do mice dislike?

The fight against rodents has been going on for more than a millennium, during which time many effective and not very methods were invented: traps, mousetraps, ultrasounds, chemicals, and much more.

But not always and not everywhere they can be used without harm to humans. In this case, special stinking aromas come to the rescue, which can scare away pests for a long time.

Smelling plants

First of all, I wanted to dwell on the most popular method of struggle, the essence of which is the use of plants whose rodents hate the heavy spirit.

What plant odor does the mouse not tolerate? In the first place you can put wormwood. According to rumors, even otherworldly evil is afraid of her intoxicating stench.

What can we say about small pests of the real world. A greater raticidal effect is achieved by fumigating a room with a smoldering plant.

Mint - the aroma of this medicinal herb does not cause any negative emotions in humans, but rodents do not tolerate it. The spread leaves of dried mint will surely cause pests to retreat.

Black root is another vegetation that wards off rodents from human dwellings. And the matter is not even in the amber itself, but in the amount of poisonous alkaloids that it contains.

Mice at the subconscious level, capturing a potential threat to life, prefer to bypass the perennial tenth road. Moreover, without even trying the grass on the tooth, pests die in its presence from insanity.

Grouse bulbs - this is another solution to a difficult task, what smell repels mice? The fact is that the root of this plant produces a sharp and not very pleasant garlic aroma, from which rodents prefer to stay away.

Important!
Another wonderful repellent of natural origin is marsh rosemary. It contains poisonous to mice essential oil and has a damaging effect at a decent distance.

Elderberry, or rather its roots, secrete hydrocyanic acid, which is poisonous to many mammals, including mice. Where this shrub of rodents grows there will definitely not be.

They are afraid of mice and the smell of chamomile, feverfew and even tansy. The principle of using all these plants is simple and straightforward: it is enough to decompose fresh or dried stems, leaves and roots in the places where the pests are most concentrated, and the latter leave the room for a while.

As the aroma is weathered, the old vegetation is replaced with fresh.

When working with poisonous plants, they also take care of their own safety.

Why use gloves, protective clothing, and at the end of the treatment, the protective equipment is thrown away or burned, in extreme cases, washed or washed well in running water.

Essential oils

Instead of plants, which not everyone can collect for a number of reasons, you can use their analogues in the form of essential oils.

In addition, this method can be several times more effective, since plant extracts have a much stronger aroma.

Advice!
To achieve the effect, it is enough to apply only a few drops of essential oil on any rags (gauze, cotton wool, a piece of tissue) and put in the rodent's mink.

When working with essential oils, it should be borne in mind that from contact with them in some people an allergy attack is not excluded.

Spices, seasonings

Spices used by almost every housewife in the kitchen can also be excellent protection against pests, because their smell repels mice in the house no worse than chemical repellents.

The most ancient and effective method of struggle is considered coriander or cilantro. Seeds or powder is laid out in kitchen cabinets, in food storage areas - a straightforward way helps to stop rodents from crawling into priceless supplies.

Smells for non-residential premises

In non-residential premises, a gas chamber can be arranged to repel rodents. As a choking agent use ordinary fodder sulfur or a smoke bomb of industrial production.

During combustion, the substance emits a poisonous and irritating gas, the smell of which is definitely not tolerated by mice. In addition, asphyxiating fumes irritate the eyes, mucous membranes of the mouth and nose, and if the animal does not run away in time, it will certainly die from serious poisoning.

No less effective means emitting an unpleasant amber are:

  • burnt tires
  • burnt down or wool
  • naphthalene,
  • low quality colognes made in the USSR,
  • kerosene.

Such substances should not be used in a residential building or in the country, as harmful elements can penetrate the human body.

It is important to carry out all work in a gas mask or, in extreme cases, in a respirator.

After processing, which should take place as soon as possible, the room is quickly left, windows and doors are tightly closed and do not visit it for some time, until all the smell disappears. Usually, along with the smell, harmful animals disappear.

What scare away small rodents?

Any pest has vulnerabilities. The main thing is to know about them so that deadly strikes are delivered for sure. It is known that rats are afraid of the smells of certain plants.

For example, a moderately poisonous plant like red elderberry, the roots of which contain prussic acid.

From this, there are never pests around her, including rodents. Therefore, elderberries are planted near sheds and granaries, with its branches layered hay in ricks, tied fruit trees, laid underground.

What smell do rats and mice dislike?

The second name of blackroot - "rat-rat" eloquently speaks for itself. In the past, it was a recognized folk remedy for scaring away “uninvited guests”. Exudes an unpleasant odor, not perceptible to humans.

With a bunch of dried or fresh black root in the pantry, house or attic, you can be calm for the harvest. Rodents will refuse to equip the nest in the hay, if it is laid with bunches of "rat-rat".

They are especially afraid of blackroot seeds that can tightly cling to the fur of animals. Two dozen plants will be enough to protect a plot of 600 m2 from pests.

Attention!
Working with black root requires caution. For protection, you can use gloves and a bandage on the face. You can lay out seeds and roots only in places inaccessible to children and pets.

Wormwood. From ancient times, dried wormwood was used to protect against mice. Cellars and pantries were lined around the perimeter, the trunks of fruit trees were tied, and planted along the garden.

The mint is wild. A familiar healthy plant. Supplies will be completely safe if you leave a bunch of mint next to the barn or basement. Mint thickets growing around the house will force rodents to bypass the structure on the third road.

Tansy. Mice are afraid of the smell of tansy, which, among the riot of summer herbs, has a specific “aroma” of camphor. There will not be a trace of gray pests if several of its bundles are hung in a basement or a house.

Chamomile officinalis. The smell of chamomile, which is pleasant for humans, but unbearable for mice, is the safest way to fight rodents. Scattered on the floor and shelves of the head of chamomile will save products from tailed insoles.

Ledum. Ledum rich in essential oils also exudes a smell that repels mice and rats. In pest control, he is an unrivaled assistant.

Only at first it is necessary to find out whether it will hinder the owners of the house with its aroma, and only after that you can lay out its branches in all corners and burrows of rodents.

Over time, the smell of herbs weakens, so the protection of them must be constantly updated.

In order not to waste time searching for fresh plants or drying them, you can plant them in a flower pot or use essential oils obtained from plant materials.

A pair of drops of essential oil is enough to scare away pests and make them change their usual “routes”.

Important!
To smell spread as far as possible, penetrated into all holes and crevices, you can drip oil on a lamp, night lamp or candle. The main thing is not to overdo it, otherwise the "legitimate" housing residents will flee before the rodents.

Most rats and mice are afraid of the smell of vinegar. This budget option of getting rid of rodents, proven in practice. It consists in the manufacture of cotton balls, abundantly soaked in vinegar.

By spreading the balls around the apartment or house, plugging them with cracks and holes, you can block the access of mice to housing. True, the balls will have to be updated from time to time.

If in the summer, knowing what smells rats and mice are afraid of, you can still cope with them with the help of fresh fragrant grass, then in the fall, when they rush to our homes in search of food and warmth, dried “bouquets” no longer help.

And not everyone is ready to turn their home into a "herbarium". In this case, modern developments in the field of disinfestation will help, namely:

Ultrasonic Repellers

Ultrasonic repellers work regardless of the time of year. No one doubts their effectiveness against mouse-like rodents.

There are many varieties of such devices on the market. For residential use, we can recommend the following devices.

300/400 Tornado Repellers Tornado is one of the most famous manufacturers of ultrasound devices in the domestic market, while their products earn only positive feedback from customers.

Tornado 300 - a powerful device for scaring away rodents. It does not harm humans and pets, but causes panic in rats and mice.

  • Effective exposure area - up to 300 m2.
  • The price of the device is 1700 rubles.

The manufacturer guarantees a noticeable effect after 14 days of using the device. Pests cannot adapt to the ever-changing frequency of ultrasound generated by the device. Man and domestic animals do not perceive him.

This model is also suitable for use in workshop halls, utility rooms, food depots and basements. The main thing is that the room has an electric power supply of 220 V.

Advice!
For use in garages and sheds, we advise you to pay attention to the device Tornado 200. The device can be installed under the hood of the car. The generated ultrasound field protects the interior of the vehicle from rats and mice.

The device does not affect the battery, as it is characterized by low power consumption. It costs 2200 rubles.

If you are looking for a more powerful device, you should pay attention to such a device as the A-1000 PRO Grad.

GRAD A-1000 PRO. The device is made in Russia. Thanks to 4 operating modes, it also repels ants, mosquitoes, fleas, ticks, etc. To select the desired mode, a special regulator is provided. Disinfects up to 1000 m2 of territory.

Pests cannot adapt to the ever-changing ultrasound pattern. Once, the established mode of operation of the unit allows you to not control it in the future.

The effect of ultrasonic exposure is enhanced by bright flashes of light. The price of the device: 4500-5000 rubles.

Using ultrasonic repellers, it is not necessary to know what smell the mouse or rat is afraid of, it is enough to include the unit in the network and forever forget about the existence of rodents.

Plants that the mice fear

Nature wisely regulates the number of all living things on earth, if a person does not interfere in its mysteries.

When buying a land plot, we often do not suspect that we are not its rightful owners, but representatives of the wild world of fauna - most often birds, rodents, insects ...

Attention!
The struggle for a happy ownership has to study the habits of annoying "Aborigines" and apply strategic and tactical methods in the colonial "war".

Today we are at war with the “Mice” tribe, those who undermine the welfare of fruit crops, damaging the stocks of pantries, scaring defenseless women. We choose one of the most peaceful methods of struggle - with the help of plants.

Some of them (raticides) are used to prepare poisoned baits, the smell of others (repellents) scare away house and forest mice, field voles and rats, while others appreciate their weapons - thorns.

Lovers of decorative mice know that rodents do not like the ground mass of beans, potatoes, tomatoes, leaves of rhubarb and onions.

Rodent traps

Many poisonous plants are used to make poisonous rodents for mouse-like rodents. Plant rhizomes are especially often used.

The four-leafed raven eye is distinguished by a blue berry and rhizomes, the smell of which causes a headache. The bait contains ground rhizomes (5 g) and sunflower seed (100 g).

A strong anti-mouse action is known for the antacid aconite. Their underground parts, especially rhizomes, have a toxic effect (50 g of powder from aconite tubers are added to 1 kg of food bait).

The infusion of fresh rhizomes of hellebore Lobel is also recommended for combating mice and rats (100 g of rhizomes are kept in 0.2 l of warm water for 4-5 days, adding a few drops of hydrochloric acid to it).

Pour grain into this infusion and leave it to swell.Rhizomes are also ground into powder and added with water to lime (clay), which is coated with tree trunks in autumn.

Important!
Prepare bait and from the seeds of plants. Their composition includes ground seeds of castor oil bean, which are mixed with unrefined vegetable oil.

The crushed seeds of Lanceolum thermopsis are mixed with bread. The plant has an unpleasant mouse odor, is highly toxic, especially the aerial part and seeds.

Sawdust is watered with the infusion of Thermopsis grass, which is laid in grooves around the tree-trunk circles dug in autumn.

In the manufacture of baits and infusions, you should remember about precautions and safety, because these plants are poisonous to humans.

Some onion and corm plants can help scare mice away from the garden and flower beds.

In mid-summer, planting of potatoes, beets and carrots is protected by dug bulbs of daffodils, which, together with coriander stalks, are distributed over the ridge area, closing with mulch on top.

In the fall, bulbs of daffodils of low species are planted around tulip plants as a living barrier. The imperial hazel grouse annually replaced bulbs emit a sharply garlic smell, which supposedly can not tolerate small rodents.

Whether the hazel grouse protects other plants from mice is a big question, but vole mice do not really eat its bulbs, although they do not disdain young shoots.

But what you can be firmly convinced of is in the autumn colchicum, in which all parts are very poisonous. To prepare the rodent bait, 20 g of colchicum seeds are added per 1 kg of cereal or flour, thoroughly mixing the mixture.

Advice!
It is laid out in places where mice are found. They work with the plant in gloves, because the juice can cause burns on the hands.

Colchicum protect plantings on the south side, where this plant can grow.

Fragrant plants

To defeat the “mouse war” will help repellents - fragrant plants. Among shrub repellents, they often use marsh rosemary.

The plant is considered poisonous due to the high content of essential oil, which has a damaging effect already at a distance.

Expelling mice, lay branches of rosemary with leaves at the entrances to the hole or plugging holes with them. Mice leave such a home and never return.

Elderberry black, elderberry grassy, elderberry red have a deterrent effect against mice and rats, because they can not stand its unpleasant odor. Black elderberry roots secrete prussic acid.

The plant is moderately toxic to mammals, therefore, where elderberry grows, small rodents will not settle. This is of particular importance for storages and compost heaps, so elderberries are planted next to them.

Protecting the planting of bulbs and perennials from winter damage, branches of black elderberry are laid under the covering material. They are tied up with tree branches. Domestic mice do not like the ethereal smell of chamomile.

Chamomile heads are scattered on the floor in the house, bunches are kept in outbuildings where food is stored.

Mice are afraid of the ethereal-resinous smell of the terrestrial parts of the girl’s feverfew, reminiscent of the scent of chamomile or chrysanthemum, therefore, for the winter, the trunks of young trees are tied with its stems.

Attention!
They are scared away by the sharp, slightly sweet smell of flowering tansy. The strong pleasant bitter-tart aroma of common wormwood, bitter wormwood, planted around the perimeter of the garden, protects it from many pests.

For the winter, tree trunks are tied with shoots. When sheltering a pruned vine, wormwood is laid down so that the grapes do not touch the soil, covering it with grass, slate and grass again.

Due to wormwood, mice will not go to such a shelter. Before you spread the shoots in the house and on the site, scaring away rodents, ordinary wormwood is scalded with boiling water. Heaps of grass wormwood surround the store (pantry, cellar).

Garden plants against mice

An equal contribution to the fight against the gray horde is also made by some garden plants. Sowing coriander (cilantro), rich in essential oil, in May is planted on a site in those places where the presence of mice is undesirable, for example, in plantings of peonies, which are often damaged by rodents.

To prevent unwanted guests in farm buildings in winter, in the fall, gardeners dare them with coriander seed stalks, laying out their dry stems or seeds here.

Dry bundles tied up young planting of fruit trees. The tops of tomatoes, containing toxic substances, are finely cut or chopped in the fall, laying out under the young plantings of woody-shrub plants, because mice do not like its specific smell.

In the spring it is covered with earth, getting a good compost. A biennial has a special place in the fight against mice - medicinal black root, which has raticidal and insecticidal properties.

All parts of the plant smell disgusting, mice do not withstand such a scent and run away. By the smell of grass, black root has a popular nickname - “mouse spirit”, “mouse-eater”.

All parts of the plant, fresh and dry, collected in the second year of its life, are used against mice and rats.

The method of intimidation of rodents

To fight the enemy, one should study his weaknesses. Mice are incredibly clean, so the clinging organs of plants are one of the methods of intimidation.

The storm of mice is considered to be the same black root, or dog tongue, so nicknamed for the rough but tenacious surface of the seeds, completely covered with thorns.

Important!
Clutching thorns, mice leave a dangerous place. They do not like mice and rough seeds of garden sow thistle, from which about 6500 pieces can be collected, and a three-part sequence, in which the outer sides of the achene and spine are covered with spines.

Inflorescences of burdock (burdock) have outer leaves of the wrapper, which end with a small hook. In storages, prickly seeds and baskets of these plants are scattered around tall boxes, discouraging mice from climbing higher or bouncing.

The trunks of trees are also tied with shoots of raspberry ordinary, because they have thin spikes in the lower part.

According to the degree of toxicity, poisonous plants are divided into poisonous (elderberry, oak anemone, May lily of the valley, ranunculus, etc.), very poisonous (nightshade, digitalis, broomberry, etc.) and deadly poisonous (aconite, castor oil plants, colchicum, common dope, black and white bleached and so forth

The following plants cause significant harm to mice: hydrangea, yew, daphne, all types of rhododendrons, including marsh ledum; fern orlyak, marsh marigold, raven eye, May lily of the valley, wrestler, hellebore white, colchicum autumn, lumbago lumbago, celandine, belladonna; Digitalis purpurea and red, bleached, hemlock spotted with an unpleasant mouse odor, common squash, dog parsley with a strong odor; poppy samoseyka, dope, black nightshade.

Datura vulgaris - a common annual weed - attracts gardeners with its powerful fast-growing bushes, reaching 120 cm in height.

Its large, oblong, funnel-shaped flowers of white or light purple color, decorating the plant from June to September, look beautiful.

After the datura fades, walnut-sized fruits appear in the bush in the form of ovoid, densely planted with numerous spiked boxes, which contain hundreds of black seeds.

In the gardens, Datura is most often grown as a solo plant or in group plantings in flower beds.

Advice!
But few gardeners know that all parts of this weed are very poisonous. In case of poisoning, a person begins to feel nauseous, dizzy, fever, delirium, therefore, when caring for a plant, safety precautions should be observed (wear gloves and wash hands thoroughly with soap and water after work).

Watch your grandchildren - in the youth environment there are tales that it has a narcotic effect (dope seeds) there have been cases of eating and poisoning.

Rodents can cause us a lot of inconvenience. Let's look at how to deal with them using folk remedies.

Deadly Lures

Sprinkle dust ash on the floor of the barn or cellar - the mice will run around the ash, and that will stick to the folders. The mouse will sit down to lick ash off the paws, and the alkali located there will cause irritation of the oral cavity, throat and stomach.

Finely chop the corks (not synthetic), mix with breadcrumbs crumbs and fry with lard, add a couple of drops of unrefined sunflower oil, put them in the places where rodents appear - they will eat, and the cork, once in a wet stomach, will swell and clog the intestines and stomach.

You can prepare a dry bait from equal parts of flour and gypsum, adding a little sugar for taste and a couple of drops of aromatic sunflower oil. Put where rodents can "hang out", and put water.

Mice will eat the bait, drink water, and the filler will freeze in the stomach, stopping its work.

Dampen a rag or sponge with turpentine and push it into the mouse hole. Add turpentine every couple of days.

Repellent herbs

Now we turn to a large group of methods of control based on the use of plants.

Black root, or rat-rat. We lay out bundles of fresh or dried grass where we do not want to see rodents. Imperceptible to humans, the smell will scare them away.

Attention!
You can use the tenacious blackroot seeds: they stick to the skin of rodents and scare them. To protect the site from pests, it is possible to place blackroot planting on it.

Elder. The smell of this plant also repels rodents. They lay out both fresh and dried branches in barns, sheds and attics. They send beets and potatoes in the cellar.

In olden times, people, noticing the property of elderberry to deter pests, planted it near houses and outbuildings.

Sagebrush. Rodents do not tolerate the bitter-tart aroma of wormwood, which besides them scares off other pests. To combat mice, it is necessary to hang and lay out dry wormwood bunches in the house, basement, sheds and attics.

You can make the strongest infusion of wormwood and then sprinkle the places of the alleged visit of animals.

Mint. This plant is good in that it smells nice and frightens away many pests, including rodents.

Bunches of fresh and dried peppermint are laid both in the supplies themselves and everywhere where we do not want to see mice. If you have peppermint plantations around the site and buildings, you can protect yourself well from the penetration of a pest buzz.

Tansy. Mice, like many pests, do not like the smell of tansy, so as often as possible lay out bundles of 4-5 stems of a dried plant.

Chamomile. Dried plants are used to scare away rodents, which are scattered on the floor.

Colchicum is autumn. All parts of the plant are poisonous, but seeds are best used. It is necessary to add 20 g of dried seeds per 1 kg of bait, mix thoroughly and place in the places where the mice appeared.

Important!
Ledum. If you expand the branches in the corners, then the rodents will try to bypass these premises. You can push grass into mouse holes and passages.

As you can see, the arsenal of methods of struggle among our ancestors was wide and plentiful and, despite the development of modern methods of struggle, I think that it is not worth writing off old recipes. Moreover, many of them are completely harmless and do not cost a penny.
