How to catch a mouse in an apartment

Good day. I sincerely hope that you don’t have to deal with the specific “hunt” that I had last month. I was visiting a school friend.

In a conversation, he complained to me that he had not been able to catch a mouse in the apartment for a week.

On this occasion, I had several ideas that we immediately decided to try out in practice. They managed to catch a small rodent in a couple of hours. Want to learn how to catch a mouse in an apartment? Which method is the most effective? Read all the details in the material below.

How to catch a mouse in a house without a mousetrap?

Many mice in the house poison. This is far from the best option, because such a poisoned mouse can climb into some secluded place and die there.

Getting it from there will be very difficult, and the smell of a dead mouse will be another problem for you, which will not be so easy to solve. It is better, of course, to catch mice, and we will talk about how this can be done.

Important!
Of course, whoever has a mousetrap in the house should use it first. But it happens (and often!) That we don’t have a mousetrap, since we didn’t think that a mouse could ever appear in our apartment or house!

In addition, it is sometimes very difficult for a mouse trap to catch a mouse if it is very small. Often, it pulls off the bait, the mousetrap works, but the mouse runs off safely to eat up the prey to its mink.

You can use special glue, which is sold in the store. It is not smeared with a cardboard stand around the perimeter, but also inside this perimeter, and some bait is placed in the middle of such an adhesive trap. The mouse just sticks to the cardboard. Thus, you can catch even the smallest mouse.

Another option is to use a bucket of water, or without water. Put a newspaper on top of the bucket, secure it with, say, thread or tape. Carefully cut the newspaper into a cross and cross into the middle to put a thin piece (so that it does not fall in!) Bait - sausage, lard, etc.

You will also need to put some kind of “ladder” in front of the bucket so that the mouse, smelling a deliciously smelling bait, can climb into the bucket. You can use a broom as such a ladder or something else.

When the mouse climbs into the bucket, it will go for the bait and fall into the bucket. If you pour water in a bucket, then it will drown there, if you feel sorry for the mouse, then you can not pour water, and then let it out somewhere on the street.

Another option for catching an annoying mouse is to use a liter jar as a trap. Again, inside the jar we place the bait - a piece of bacon, a small cracker, cookies.

Cheese, contrary to the prevailing opinion, should not be taken, mice do not strongly favor it, as is commonly believed. The bait will need to be fixed with tape on the wall of the can at a height of 5-7 centimeters from the edge.

Advice!
Next, set the bank with the neck down, and you need to do this obliquely.A 5-ruble coin is placed on the edge under the edge of the can. The mouse crawls under the jar, starts jumping there, trying to get the “delicious” left by us, loosens the jar, the coin falls and the glass trap closes.

Further under the jar you will need to slip a sheet of cardboard and turn the jar over. So your mouse will be safe and sound in the bank. Then you can do whatever you want with her.

Methods for catching mice without a mousetrap

If mice are wound up in your apartment or house, then you should immediately remove them. And not only because 80 kg of your mother-in-law with a screech flies up to the table in 2 seconds, and then drinks a sedative all day, but also because mice, in the first place, are carriers of infectious and dangerous diseases.

In addition, they will spoil your furniture and work well on your stocks of flour, cereals, dried fruits and other products.

First, clean the house so that the mice have no reason to stay away. To do this, hide all products in metal pots or other containers inaccessible to mice.

The apartment should be very dry, no containers with water and a vase of flowers! Mice can not do without water for a long time, if you have nothing to drink, then they certainly will not last long.

Place grilles on all openings of air ducts and technical channels through which mice easily enter the apartment. Check for gaps and holes between the blocks in your apartment or house. A 1 cm hole is enough for the mouse to be with you, so carefully seal all seams, cracks and holes with construction foam.

Attention!
Thus, you will create extremely unfavorable living conditions for your mice. Most likely, after such events, the mice will leave themselves and there will be no one to catch. If the mice still remain, or for the sake of prevention, use one of the proposed methods for exterminating the mice.

Of course, the easiest way to buy a mousetrap. And how to bring out mice without a mousetrap? There are several methods for this, and what you choose depends on your desire.

Method 1. Get a cat. Or at least rent it from friends. Better, of course, if it is a battle cat-rat-cat. But even a spoiled domestic cat will take effect - the mice will leave themselves as soon as they smell the cat in the house!

Method 2. There is a special glue from mice that should be coated with a board or cardboard. The glue does not dry out, and it smells particularly good to mice. The mouse will certainly smell, stick, and you just need to throw away the cardboard with the mouse stuck to it.

This method can be used only in those houses where there are no small children and animals. Otherwise, they may also be interested in glue and poison.

Method 3. You can use mouse poison. The method is good for a private house, because if the mouse recovers and dies in the apartment, the smell of its decomposition will be very difficult to remove, it will haunt the inhabitants of the apartment for several more years.

Method 4. An ultrasonic rodent repeller works very effectively. If your washing machine has an ultrasonic device, then you do not need to buy a special repeller - wash more often. The only condition is that you will need to close the holes in the house or apartment after several washing sessions.

Method 5. You can catch the mouse in a jar. We take a jar with a wide neck (the usual half-liter or liter), set the throat down so that half of the throat is on a plank or block 1.5-2 cm thick.

Important!
The whole structure should stand on a sheet of cardboard. We put a piece of cheese or other food under the jar that doesn’t fit in the distance between the neck and the floor.

A greedy mouse will not leave a jar without food, which will help it stay alive until you arrive. To remove the mouse, press the neck of the can to the sheet of cardboard and turn it all together. By the way - this is a great method to catch a runaway pet hamster.

Methods of catching rodents in the apartment

The classic mousetrap is a device for catching small rodents that can kill or seriously injure a small animal. Someone considers this method savage, and therefore prefers to catch mice alive. How to catch a mouse without a mousetrap without killing it will be discussed below.

There are at least four options for catching pests using improvised tools available in almost every house:

  • glass jar;
  • flower pot;
  • plastic bottle;
  • a bucket with a capacity of five or more liters.

There are other methods of catching mice at home, which require more serious preparation and going to the nearest hardware store:

  • live traps are a kind of mousetrap, with the only difference being that the mouse does not suffer; You can make it yourself or purchase a finished device;
  • special glue for rodents;
  • finished glue traps;
  • rat poison - a minus of this method is the inability to detect a corpse that emits an unpleasant odor;
  • a cat or a cat is not always a reliable method: there are some pets who themselves try to hide only when they see a small mouse.

By the way, the use of adhesive substrates is not suitable for humanists: trying to free themselves from the trap, the animal makes heartbreaking sounds that only a person with an impenetrable psyche can withstand.

Method 1: glass jar

How to catch a mouse using a can? In addition to the container itself (by the way, you can use a glass of a suitable size as well) you need to stock up on:

  • a coin with a diameter of 2 cm or more;
  • scotch tape;
  • the bait.

Then they carry out simple preparatory work:

  1. Attach the bait to the inner surface of the can using tape so that it is closer to the bottom of the container.
  2. Put the jar upside down on the substrate (cardboard, board, etc.).
  3. The capacity is set so that one edge of the neck stands on the base, and the other abuts against the edge of the coin.
  4. The mechanism of action of such a trap to the commonplace is simple: the mouse, trying to get to the goodies, will surely touch a coin and will be in ambush.
  5. It remains only to turn the jar along with the substrate and throw the rodent in the adjacent field.

Do not release the captive in a residential area so that she does not return to the house again.

Method number 2: flower pot

Required:

  • a clay or plastic pot with a hole at the bottom, if the second option is used, then it is weighted with the help of a load;
  • thread;
  • match or toothpick;
  • clip;
  • bait;
  • piece of plywood.

Trap Making:

  • The pot is turned upside down on a sheet of plywood.
  • The thread is pulled through the hole. A match is tied to it from the outside of the pot, and a bait is attached to it from the inside with a paper clip. The bait should hang almost under the bottom.
  • The upper edge of the pot rests on a match with a thread tied to it.
  • It takes a wait and see attitude.

When the rodent reaches for the bait, the match will work like a trigger and the pot will cover the pest.

Method number 3: a plastic bottle

How to catch a mouse in a house with a plastic bottle? In addition to the tank itself, you will need a thread and bait.

Sequencing:

  • They drop the bait to the bottom.
  • The bottle is placed on the edge of the table so that the bottom hangs.
  • One edge of the thread or fishing line is securely fixed to the table, the second is tied to the neck.
  • The bottle, under the force of gravity, the rodent deciding to feast, will turn over and the mouse will have no choice but to hang out in the air in anticipation of its fate.

How to catch a mouse in an apartment or house without a mousetrap using a plastic bottle, stationery rubber, a paper clip and two plastic or wooden tubes:

  1. A small hole is cut out in the center of the bottom.
  2. The tip is cut at a certain distance (¼) from the neck so that an impromptu cover is obtained.
  3. One tube is threaded through the center of the bottle, the second through the center of the “cap”.
  4. The bait is strung on a paper clip with an elastic band and threaded through a drilled hole, the second end of the elastic band is fixed externally to the cork.
  5. The second gum is fixed on the outside of the bottle to the tubes so that the “cap” is open.
  6. Principle of action: from the tension created by the mouse pulling the bait, the first gum will tear and the lid will slam.

Method number 4: using a bucket

Also a fairly simple way to help solve the problem of how to catch a mouse in an apartment.

  • A bucket is filled with a small amount of water, a newspaper is fixed on top, in the center of which a cross-section is made. They put bait here.
  • An impromptu ladder is put to the bucket (board, ruler, twig, etc.).
  • Having reached the bait, the mouse will fail and drown.

If there is no desire to kill the pest, then you can not pour water. In this case, use a container with high and slippery sides, so that the mouse could not jump out or escape.

Method number 5: glue and glue traps

It is necessary to work with glue with gloves and protective clothing, since the product is difficult to wipe off from the skin and fabric. The glue is applied to cardboard or plywood with a thin layer or strips at a distance of 1-1.5 cm from each other, the bait is placed in the center.

If a ready-made glue trap is used for capture, then no preparatory actions will be needed.

An impromptu trap is set in places where mice most often go hunting. When the rodent sticks, it will die of thirst and hunger, and a tablet with a corpse can be thrown into the nearest ballot box.

By the way, it is best to destroy carcasses by burning, so that you do not inadvertently spread a dangerous infection transmitted by rodents.

Cleanliness - the enemy of the rodent

Keeping the house clean and following the recommendations, you can create conditions that will become unbearable for the life of mice and they quickly retire home.

Advice!
Periodic general cleaning will help to avoid accumulation of garbage, food debris in corners, drawers and other inaccessible places, and therefore, rodents will not have the opportunity to profit from something. Products are stored in tightly sealed cans or metal containers with a heavy lid.

Household and kitchen waste is collected in buckets with lids and promptly removed from the apartment. Install gratings on ventilation ducts, close holes in the floor and baseboards.

A bit about the bait

To surely catch a mouse at home, you need to choose the right bait. Many have long been accustomed to using cheese as bait, but, as it turned out, the mice do not particularly like it. For these purposes, it is better to use:

  • nuts
  • chocolate candies;
  • bread;
  • meat or fat;
  • sunflower seeds.

Rodents “bite” well on sunflower oil, so before you put the bait in a trap, it is first dipped in oil.

The mouse in the apartment: how to catch it quickly and without traps

Despite the generally accepted opinion that pests can only be found in private residential buildings and cottages, mice are increasingly found in urban dwellings.
Nowadays, no one is surprised by the appearance of mice in the apartment on the ground floor.

The lack of regular processing of the basement leads to the reproduction of animals. Often rodents move to higher floors, which also do not guarantee protection from them.

The animals penetrate small cracks under the baseboard, climb along the walls of houses and electrical wires, penetrate the garbage chute, into the openings near sewers, live in ventilation openings.

If you find gnawed bags with cereals, flour or granulated sugar at home, you should know that you have uninvited neighbors. In addition, they are perfectly accustomed and enjoy life in your city apartment. Kitchen is their favorite place, as there is always something to eat.

The harm caused by rodents is not limited to only spoiled food.Gnawed baseboards, electrical wiring, insulation, things - pests gnaw everything that meets in their way.

In addition, mice are very prolific and can breed all year round, bringing up to 14 offspring of 3-12 mice in each. If you do not take the necessary measures to destroy them in time, soon the mice will flood your home. And then it will become very difficult to fight them.

Harm from rodents

Damage to property is only “flowers”. Mice suffer many dangerous diseases and infections, such as: bubonic plague, mouse typhus, leptospirosis, tularemia and others, thereby causing great harm to human health. Therefore, the fight against rodents is primarily a concern for the health and safety of people.

Attention!
Most people prefer to poison animals. However, this is not the best method of controlling rodents. After eating poison, the mouse can climb into some secluded place and die there.

Pulling it out of hiding will be problematic and the corpse will begin to exude a stench. And this is another problem that is not so easy to get rid of. And poison can be very dangerous both for humans and for pets.

Therefore, it is better to catch rodents. But before you fight rodents, you need to deal with the elimination of the reasons that attracted them to your home.

We eliminate the causes of occurrence

The most common reasons for rodents in your apartment may be due to unsanitary conditions. Left food on the table, crumbs on the floor, irregular disposal of garbage, open food in accessible places - all this attracts mice.

Therefore:

  1. clean up the apartment by hiding the products in special closed containers;
  2. remove water available for rodents. They cannot be long without fluid, so there is a chance that you will not last long;
  3. install the grill on the exhaust outlet;
  4. Check the baseboard for holes and crevices. The animals have enough holes with a diameter of 1 cm to crawl into your apartment;
  5. Take out the trash regularly.

Only after the living conditions for the rodents become unfavorable can they be captured.

Pest capture methods

Whoever has a mousetrap can certainly take advantage of it. But not often people living in the apartment have it. Many cannot even think that they will ever get mice. Although the mousetrap does not give a 100% result. Especially a small mouse can safely pull off the bait and run away healthy and unharmed when the mousetrap is triggered.

But what if there is no mousetrap at hand or you just feel sorry for killing the animal? It is better to adopt one of the many effective ways that will teach you how to catch mice.

Glue from rodents. You can use special glue, which is sold in hardware stores. It is applied on a flat surface (board, paper). Any bait is placed in the middle. The animal, wanting to feast on refreshments, sticks and can no longer run away.

Ready-made adhesive mats are also sold, the principle of operation is the same as that of glue. It is important that the rug or board with glue be out of the reach of children and pets.

We catch pests with a can. For this method, an ordinary liter jar is suitable, inside which on the wall closer to the bottom we glue the bait with tape. It can be lard, cookies, a piece of bread.

We turn the jar upside down and place it on a sheet of cardboard at an angle so that one half of the neck is on the floor, and under the other we put a five-ruble coin on the edge.

Important!
Trying to get the bait, the mouse will jump, the coin will fall, and the rodent will be in a glass trap. Pressing the cardboard to the neck, turn the jar over and remove the rodent.

Another simple trap option: you will need a three-liter jar, in which you need to place your favorite pet treat.The trap is ready! Next to the bank, put several books stacked on top of each other so that the mouse can climb inside. Once in the bank, she simply will not be able to get out of it.

You can use the box instead of the can by attaching the bait with a short rope to its bottom. Turn the box over and substitute a support (for example, matches) under one side. Because of its instability, the design will cover the mouse when it wants to feast on the bait.

And a few more ways

Plastic bottle against mice. Another affordable way is to lure a pest out of your shelter and catch it. You will need a plastic bottle with a bait, lubricated inside with oil. Place the bottleneck up so that it is at an angle of 45 from the floor.

To allow the animal to climb inside, substitute a board or ruler for it. A mouse falling into a bottle cannot get out of it along slippery walls.

We use the bucket as a trap. You can simply put a treat for the mouse in the bucket and put some board next to it so that the animal can get into the bucket.

And there is another way: cover the bucket with a newspaper, after making a cross-shaped cut in the middle, and fix the bait on it (the main thing is that it does not fail).

The newspaper must be fixed on the bucket with tape. When the animal climbs behind the bait, it will fall into a bucket. If you pour water in a bucket, the mouse will drown.

Advice!
And one more simple method to catch a rodent with a bucket: you need to pierce the plastic bottle with a spoke or wire so that it easily rotates around the rod.

Fix the whole structure on top of the bucket. Attach the bait to the bottle. The animal will want to try it, climb on the bottle and, unable to resist, will fall into the bucket due to the fact that the bottle rotates.

Get a cat. Or borrow from friends. Well, if he will catch mice. But even if the cat does not show any interest in the animals, they will leave your home from its smell alone.

How to catch a mouse in an apartment without a mousetrap

If earlier it was believed that mice are only found in private houses standing on the ground, now these cute, but very annoying rodents can be found everywhere. Gray animals manage to climb even the highest floors of panel houses.

According to eyewitnesses, tiny climbers almost "run" along the steep walls, clinging to the microscopic roughness with their claws.

Therefore, no one is safe from the appearance of uninvited guests, and it is necessary to mentally prepare for the inevitable meeting.

How to detect traces

There are 3 sure signs that mice are wound up in your apartment. Firstly, these are extraneous sounds: scratching, tapping, grinding. All this says that rodents gradually master in a new place and equip a warm nest.

Attention!
How, you do not want to wait for the numerous offspring? Well then, take action immediately!

The second factor indicating a clear proximity is tooth marks and food debris. It can be husks of cereals, seeds, crumbs from cardboard boxes and other packaging. The holes left by the mice are of a rather specific form, therefore it is impossible to make a mistake. As soon as you notice them, you will immediately understand what is the matter.

The third sign, giving out mice "with the head" - litter. From afar, a hostess inexperienced in such matters can take mouse poop for dried tea leaves, but their shape is more round and regular than that of a tea. The smell left by mice in confined spaces (for example, in boxes and shelves with cereals) is also very recognizable.

How to catch

The most primitive and least humane way is the mousetrap. We will not consider it in principle, because a normal person will not want to harm even a small mouse. Moreover, there are other, also effective ways of catching mice in the house.

So that the mice do not even look towards your apartment, it is necessary to create the most uncomfortable conditions for their life. To do this, inspect all kinds of gaps, corners, cabinets, chimneys and ventilation holes.

Close large holes with dense nets, through which even the cockroach will not crawl, and glue them with silicone glue (PVA may suit the rodent to taste). And coat small holes with special compounds.

Make it a rule to carefully hide food in cans and glass jars with tight lids; you can use pots.

Water also should not stand in the open. Repair taps and do not leave cups of water overnight. Do not give your mouse even a chance to get food and drink. Then she will ignore your apartment and go to live with her neighbor.

A special mouse repeller has long been touted as the perfect way. Only a real device will help you get rid of mice in an apartment, not a fake. If you are confident in the manufacturer, buy.

Important!
A cat is traditional, but not always working. The Pied Piper brought from neighbors may simply refuse to work in someone else's territory. And your cat will be a coward or a lazy person.

Catching a mouse with a can is a very original and uncomplicated method. Take a liter standard jar, a piece of sausage and 5 cents. Why sausage? Yes, because meat is the best treat for our predator. And leave the cheese to cartoon characters.

Place the jar with one edge of the neck on the edge of the coin. Check the balancer. In 999 cases, the mouse, running, catches an unstable design and is captured. Having discovered the prey, you slip a leaf under the bank, turn it over and take the rodent out onto the street.

With such simple, and most importantly - not bloody ways, you can catch a mouse in an apartment alive. But it depends only on you whether she will return again.

How to remove rodents from housing?

How to catch a mouse in an apartment without a mousetrap? How to breed mice? Any person asks such questions if a mouse is found in his apartment / house. Typically, mice enter apartments through ducts or technical channels. It happens that mice crawl up to 9-10 floors.

A mouse in the house is not the best option, except that mice are carriers of dangerous diseases, they rustle, making owners nervous, gnaw household items, spoil food supplies, and women are scared.

Before starting the fight against rodents, it is necessary to carry out a series of measures to separate rodents from food, in plain language - hide the products in a refrigerator or metal pans that mice could not reach them.

If you have a mouse, it is possible that this may happen again. Also try to keep everything dry. Mice can not do without water for a long time, and for a long time you will not stay. Place the grilles (plastic or metal) on the windows of the air ducts, foam or plaster interplate and interfloor holes.

It can be considered at this stage of the fight against rodents that we have created unfavorable conditions for the life of mice in our country. Perhaps after these events, the mouse will disappear and there will be no one to display. Getting to catching mice.

Advice!
The first way. Catch the mouse using a standard mousetrap. Such a mousetrap is sold in department stores and is inexpensive. For those who have recently encountered a problem, we explain the principle of action of the mousetrap and how to use this mousetrap.

We look at the picture: first you need to “charge” the mousetrap, for which we put the bait (cheese, bread,) on the trigger (1), then gently cock the clip (2), put the holder (3) on it and insert this holder into the trigger so that the slightest touch causes the retainer to slide out of the trigger.

Mousetrap
Mousetrap

Carefully put the mousetrap in the place of the likely occurrence of the "enemy."The mousetrap works like this: the mouse touches the bait and moves the trigger, on which the bait is put on, the holder slides off the trigger and releases the clip, the spring-loaded clip closes, firmly pressing (usually) some part of the mouse.

Accordingly, the more gently we insert the retainer into the trigger, and the more firmly the bait is held on the trigger of the mousetrap, the greater the likelihood of success. When charging a mousetrap, be careful, the pressure is very painful, and nobody succeeds in charging the mousetrap the first time.

The second way. DIY mousetrap. To make a mousetrap with our own hands, we need: a box, a thin but strong wire, a bait. In the box, an entrance is cut - a round hole with a diameter of 2-3 cm. A free self-tightening loop is made of wire.

The other end of the wire is attached to the box. The loop is located in front of the entrance, a bait is put in the box. The principle of operation of such a mousetrap: a mouse climbing into a box pokes its head into a loop, and drags this loop into a box.

The loop is tightened - the mouse is caught. Despite the apparent simplicity and improbability of such a mousetrap, it works (with proper design experience) better than the usual mousetrap described above.

Third way. Ultrasonic rodent repeller. As such a repeller, you can use an ultrasonic washing machine (if any). The only caveat is that you need to close the holes in the apartment after several sessions of ultrasound scare.

The fourth way. Rent a cat from friends. Of course, it is desirable that this be a rat-catcher, but in general, the smell of a cat will almost certainly scare away the mouse far enough.

Attention!
The fifth way. Glue from mice. We take a cardboard and spread non-drying fragrant glue on it. The mouse sticks to it, and it remains only to throw out the cardboard with the mouse stuck to it. This method should be used with caution if free-walking pets live in the house. They may also flatter on this glue.

The fifth way. Mouse poison. The method makes sense to use in a private house with a large number of rodents. If a mouse is poisoned in an apartment, the smell of its decomposition will haunt the inhabitants of this apartment for a long time.

The sixth way. Catch the mouse in the jar. We take a jar with a wide throat, put on something dense, but thin about 2 cm wide, with the edge of the throat. We put the bait under the bank.

This method leaves the life of the mouse before your arrival. To remove the mouse, we lift the jar and palm off a sheet of cardboard under the neck, then turn the jar over. So you can catch the runaway hamster.

How to catch a mouse in an apartment?

Gray little mice are not uncommon in an apartment with free access to food. They choose their place of settlement closer to food, manage to climb into kitchen cabinets, overcome seemingly insurmountable obstacles to find food for themselves. These rodents are extremely tenacious, cunning and breed fast.

To get rid of uninvited guests, a person has to try more than one way to get rid of evil, often resorting to rather harsh measures that can affect the health of those who live in the apartment.

There are many alternative ways to quickly catch a mouse, which we will cover in more detail.

How to quickly breed mice?

The most effective and safeguard method against the invasion of mice is cats, but, alas, not every owner can afford to keep the animal in the apartment. And on the other hand, now not every cat will catch mice, since he can be accustomed from birth to eat only what is served on a silver platter, many city representatives of the oldest kind of mammals have already forgotten about hunting.

Not everyone prefers mousetraps: for example, rats immediately figure out what the secret of the bait trap is, some mice also freely remove bait without harming their health.

Important!
And then, it’s not entirely humane to kill an animal in such a barbaric way, especially if a single individual has appeared in the apartment. A person is largely guilty of the appearance of small rodents, leaving food leftovers in accessible places at night, not caring about hygiene and order in the house.

How to catch a mouse in an apartment without chemicals? Be smart! There is a simple and win-win way to get rid of unwanted guests without costs. For a home-made trap with and without an exit, you will need a small cardboard box to fit a mouse into it.

You can glue the cube yourself and gently cut three faces on one side. On the opposite - you need to cut a small hole and pass the thread with the bait inside, after tying the knot on top. The bait must be in weight so that the animal reaches for the prey.

With the cut edges, you need to lay the box on the floor and make an entrance by lifting the edges and supporting them with stripes of cardboard or matches. As soon as the mouse is in the vicinity of a home-made mousetrap, it will smell food and will certainly climb inside.

If this happens, the door will slam shut and the rodent will remain inside until you yourself remove it from there. And then it’s a matter of technology: you can not kill the animal, but simply carry the box away from your home and release the captive.

Something similar is a three-liter jar with a bait, inside which is lubricated with vegetable oil and laid on the floor, after tilting it 45-60 degrees.

To quickly get the mouse into the jar, put a soft cloth under it. As soon as the beast is inside, it is trapped from which there is no way out, since the edges of the can are smooth and it is impossible to climb up them.

Where to set traps?

It is possible that the mouse with the advent of cold weather decided to stay with you for the whole winter. Conduct a study of places where uninvited guests usually visit: they leave behind feces and holes in bags with cereals.

It is better to put the bait in such places. To make the smell intense, you can grind several cereal grains on a coffee grinder, put pieces of cheese, cookies.

Advice!
In order for the capture to succeed, the mouse must feel like a mistress of the situation, give it the opportunity to "go your own way" and set up home-made traps there.

Compared with rural mice, which can “camp” in the vicinity of cowsheds and sheds, urban gray individuals are less likely to survive in cold weather. And if the rodent decided to settle in your apartment, then, be sure, he will choose the safest place.

Owners of apartments on the lower tiers of apartment buildings suffer more, since mice, if they find food, do not go higher, but settle there. But hopelessness and lack of food make gray mice climb up and look for housing, where there will be shelter, and security, and food.

Remember that rodents can breed quickly, so as soon as you hear a rustling in the kitchen, in the bathroom or toilet, where the mouse can get through the small sewer openings between floors, sound the alarm and get rid of it until you have a whole family of mice.

The best ways to catch a mouse at home

Mice are not only not the most pleasant rodents, but also quite dangerous, because they often act as carriers of infection. They rarely appear in city apartments, so the person is not always ready for them, and the sudden question of capture leads to a dead end. How to do this if the usual and reliable mousetrap is not at hand?

Before engaging in direct catching of a rodent, you need to make sure that he is flattered by the bait prepared for him, and this will happen only if there are no such “delicacies” anywhere else.

Experts advise to remove all cereals and other dry products from the access zone in metal or glass containers, as well as temporarily abandon vases with flowers and other open water sources. The inability to quench the thirst for mice is worse than hunger, therefore, even if you do not catch them, then drive them away with such actions.

The most convenient and almost no extra steps method involves the purchase of a special glue that has a pleasant (for rodent) aroma.

With this tool, you need to rub any cardboard, board or other removable and mobile surface, then leave it in a visible place and wait. The mouse will be interested in a “delicacy” and stick to it, after which it remains only to take it out with the tablet to the street.

Attention!
You can enhance the effect and add a real bait: cheese, lard, etc. The disadvantage of this method is only that in the presence of small children or animals in the house, there is a risk of accidental contact with an agent that is toxic.

Some sources recommend trying not to catch the mouse at home, but immediately poison it: for this, use both powders and liquids that are mixed with the bait. In the same way, some homemade mixtures can be used - for example, lime with sugar or alabaster with cereal.

Reliably, quite simply, but with some nuances: a rodent can die not at the "crime scene", but a little further, for example, having run into a gap somewhere. As a result, an unpleasant smell of a decaying corpse will appear at home, which still needs to be found.

How to catch a mouse in a bottle? Quite a tricky but effective method that does not harm the rodent: for this it is advisable to use a glass bottle with a wide neck, in which there used to be oil.

If it was not there, you can pour a small amount there for a while, evenly distributing it on the walls. Throw the bait to the bottom, bring any "ladder" to the throat - a ruler, a broom, etc. An interested mouse will jump for a treat, but will not be able to get back.

Using the bottle, you can crank up an alternative idea, but you need a large bucket that is filled with water. The bottle is mounted above it in a horizontal position on any possible “spit”: both a thread and a thin stick are suitable.

It is important that the bottle is spinning. In the center it is coated or tied with bait, after which they make a "ladder" to the bucket and bottle. A mouse reaching the middle will provoke a rotation of the surface and will be dropped into the water.

Also, if there is no mousetrap in the house, you can catch the mouse in a glass jar: according to the algorithm of action, the scheme is very similar to working with a mousetrap. For this purpose, a 1-2 liter capacity is needed, to the bottom of which (from the inside) any bait is attached, and the jar itself is turned over so that the throat looks down.

Advice!
You need to put it so that it is at an angle - this will help a small - 5 rubles - a coin placed on the edge. As soon as the mouse tries to slip under the can, attracted by the smell, the coin moves and the trap slams.

After the pest is not only detected, but also neutralized, and you make sure that there are no rodents in the apartment besides it, care should be taken to prevent their occurrence.

To do this, check the possible places of their penetration and fill these holes with mounting foam, or cover with a densely nailed board. Grilles must be placed in the ducts, and just in case, get a mousetrap. And better of a cat: even its smell will already work as a deterrent.
