how to deal with wasps in the country

Good day! Although the summer is already over, but as they say, it is necessary to prepare the sled in the summer, and the cart in the winter.

This article will focus on creatures such as wasps. That's who we regularly encounter in the warm season.

In fact, if you do not touch them, do not frighten them, then they do not carry any particular danger, except that the sight of some people is terrifying.

But it’s one thing when you are dealing with one or two wasps, as happens in apartment buildings, and quite another when you have a summer house that is teeming with these insects. Then you involuntarily wonder how to get rid of them. Especially if there are children in the immediate vicinity.

Want to learn how to deal with wasps in the country? What are the methods of dealing with them, where do they come from? Then read the article below.

What kind of danger are they?

Wasps live mainly under the roofs of country houses, or in crevices. This, of course, causes great inconvenience to the owners of these houses.

In addition to the fact that they interfere with the quiet enjoyment of rest in the summer cottage, they are considered the most active carriers of intestinal infections, because they spend the bulk of their lives in garbage dumps, looking for sugar-containing products for themselves to maintain their vital functions.

Important!
After that, they surround you everywhere, sit down on food or try to bite you - thereby posing a serious danger to you.

To get rid of wasps, proven and high-quality methods of struggle are needed. In no case do not try to destroy the wasps with aerosols, because this will not help, but rather will aggravate the situation.

These flying insects are very susceptible to odors, and therefore, after spraying the room, they will immediately fly in and surround you. In addition to aerosols, attractants are sold, but this is also an ineffective means of dealing with them.

Habits of wasps

Everyone knows what wasps look like. But what are their habits? Let's take a closer look. First, wasps are known to live in groups in a nest. In spring (April), fertilized females lay their eggs.

In order to build a nest, wasps gnaw at a tree and other soft fibers that chew and mix with water or saliva, resulting in gray or brownish-yellow paper, as a material for construction. Build your house in a dry place protected from water.

Worker wasps are sterile females, they take care of feeding the larvae and the queen, also provide further development of the nest and protect them from humans. The queen does not fly anymore, but lays her eggs in empty cells.

In August-September, male wasps (drones) and fertile females (young uterus) leave the nest and begin to mate, drones die soon after.

When the first frosts appear, all the inhabitants of the nest die, but the young uterus, in a hidden place, find wintering (not in the nest, but in a sheltered place inside buildings, in shelters or in hollows of trees).During hibernation, the queens with their jaws attach to a wooden beam, and for 6-7 months remain motionless to hang.

Reasons for the appearance

One hundred percent answer why the wasps chose a particular country house, it is impossible. Among the possible reasons are:

  • The place of their former nesting. The fact is that scout wasps were the first for suitability to check old parking lots, and if any were found, they would definitely settle there.
  • Immediate proximity to food source. It can be a huge flowerbed with flowers, many fruit-bearing trees, especially during the flowering period.
  • Nearby there is a colony of other insects with which wasps feed their offspring.

Signs of wasps in the country

It is difficult to determine the presence of these insects in their area. There are so many of them flying in nature that it is not clear where they come from.

Attention!
A sure sign of their sharing in the country is a nasty and incessant buzz. In this case, you need to determine the location of the nest.

It is better to go on reconnaissance in the morning or in the middle of the day, when everything is perfectly visible and most wasps are not at home. It is worth checking the attic, shed, veranda more carefully.

Methods of struggle

If one or two wasps accidentally flew into your home, getting rid of them is easy. Simple means will help - slippers, a folded newspaper, a towel or dichlorvos, sticky paper from flies.

On the garden plot, traps from plastic bottles will help - cut the neck on the shoulders (label), turn it over and, pouring the sour compote into the bottle, insert the cut part down with the neck in the bottle. Nests in the ground are poured with boiling water or from a water hose. After that, fill the nest with earth and tamp.

If a wasp begins to circle around you on the street, it means that you are not far from the nest - the insect is trying to find out if you are a threat. Stand still and she will fall behind.

If you are allergic to bites or have small children in the family who find it difficult to explain that you cannot touch them, then, of course, it is better to get rid of dangerous neighbors.

Especially if a nest appeared nearby. Otherwise, the chances of being stung increase many times. In addition, these insects are carriers of intestinal infections, as they fly everywhere, including garbage cans, and then can land on a plate of washed fruit.

In the wild, wasps build paper nests on the branches of trees and bushes or in the ground, under civilization - under the roofs of houses and sheds, on balconies and in niches. The best thing, of course, is to invite specialists to control insects. If this is not possible for some reason, remember a few rules.

Advice!
When approaching the nest, you must be extremely careful. Do not do this during the day and in the heat! Wasps are less active in rainy weather and in the dark, as well as at temperatures below +12 degrees.

It is difficult to get rid of wasps by conventional means. They are very sensitive to odors, and if you decide to destroy them using some kind of aerosol, you risk making trouble ... And the use of baits is fraught with wasps flocking from adjacent sites to the smell.

The fight must be carried out in the evening or at night, when all wasps gather for the night in a nest - so there are more chances to defeat the entire colony. Removing an empty nest in the morning or in the afternoon, when most of the insects fly apart, you will expose yourself to prolonged attacks by returning wasps - they are very vengeful.

How to deal with wasps

Favorite habitats of wasps are attics of houses, roofs of verandas and sheds. There is a practice of burning wasp nests, summer residents who were annoyed by wasps in the summer, with the onset of cold weather, they remove wasp nests and burn them.

In the spring, also inspect the verandas and attics, remove and burn the nests found! So you can protect yourself from the neighborhood with these insects.

The returning female, not finding her nest, will fly to another place. In the summer, it is much more difficult to destroy a hornet’s nest. You can do this only at night, cover the nest with a tight bag with an insecticide embedded in it.

This is, however, a very dangerous thing, if angry insects can get out of the trap, there will be no need to wait for mercy for the summer resident!

So the best time to fight wasps is early spring, that's when the hornet's nests need to be destroyed. Well, if the deadlines are missed and the wasps settled in your dacha?

Important!
An ideal way to deal with wasps is to treat the site and the house with insect control specialists. However, this is a rather expensive pleasure and it is not convenient for everyone to wait for the arrival of specialists to process the site.

You can independently spray the nests with a special solution (mix in equal proportions cypermethrin and actellik at the rate of 5 ml each per liter of water). 15 minutes after spraying, cut off the nest at the base, place it in a tight bag and tie it.

If the wasps settled on a site in the ground, then cultivate the ground with the same solution. When processing, protect your face with a three-layer gauze bandage, and your hands with rubber gloves. After the solution has been treated with the solution from the wasps, wash those parts of the body that have been opened with soap and water.

You can try to use the following drugs against wasps: Tsimbush, K * Otrin, Ambush, Orrivo, Actellik, Fufanol, Baigon, Sipaz, Karbofos. Fas smoke bombs are also suitable, but Fumitox does not take wasps! Well-proven "Gett", "Maskitol protection against wasps", "Dare", "Troapsil."

Folk methods

One of such methods is to bring a bucket filled with water to the aspen nest so that the nest is immersed in water, within 5 minutes the nest will become wet, and the wasp will die.

Using this method, you must be fully dressed, all areas of the body must be protected! As a distracting means, you can put a cup of jam nearby, then flying wasps next to you will not bother you much.

You can also treat the melon or watermelon peel with an insecticidal gel, or leave it on a compost heap. The wasp, having tasted such a treat, dies, so you can destroy a large number of wasps. However, with this method, the hornet’s nest still remains safe and sound!

Kerosene used to be a very good way to avoid wasp attacks, kerosene treated wasps died. Treated with kerosene and a hornet's nest. But recently, wasps, apparently, have adapted to kerosene. The method does not always work!

You can make jam with water in the jars and put the jars in those places of your site where you practically never go. Wasps will move to a new place, however, this method is also not suitable for everyone.

Traps and lures

In practice, I experienced the simplest traps: containers with any sweet liquid. The conclusions are as follows:

  1. It works - wasps flock to the bait. But in such a way it is hardly possible to completely remove them - only to reduce the “stock”. Well, and perhaps distract from other "objects".
  2. The container must have a narrow neck, preferably arranged on the principle of a funnel. Insects are taken into jars, and into bottles, and into a bowl of jam, but it is important for them to get out of there as difficult as possible.
  3. The odorous liquid in the trap is preferable to ordinary sweet water - jam, honey, fermented liquids attract more insects.
  4. Thick viscous bait “catches” wasps better than liquid. For example, old jam is suitable (if it is candied, it thickens a lot - we will dilute it a little with water).

I also found advice from an experienced winegrower: add an ampoule of any insecticide of gastrointestinal effect to this liquid (funds from a Colorado potato beetle, for example, are suitable). He says that they don’t fly far from such a treat.

There are traps for factory-made wasps on sale, but they act, in general, according to the same principle as ordinary home-made ones, so if there is 5-10 minutes of free time, an unnecessary plastic bottle and “very good hands” , then there’s no need to go for such purchases.

Attention!
But what I plan to look for in stores is a special poison for wasps. Having eaten such a bait, the insect dies after some time. Moreover, grabbing a "treat" for relatives, the wasp brings death to other inhabitants of its nest.

According to the reviews of summer residents, watermelon peels (melon variant), well watered with an insecticide without a pronounced odor (for example, Intavir), also help. Such a bait can be left in any suitable place - having eaten poisonous treats, wasps die.

In our catalog, which includes the offers of many large online stores, you can choose various means to combat wasps.

Choosing a strategy and "weapon" to destroy the nest

There are many options for destroying nests, but many of them are fraught with serious risk. Personally, I don’t dare to try them, but for those who are especially brave (or desperate) I’ll bring you again, since I found:

  • Water. Someone advises boiling water (pour a nest, getting close to it), someone ordinary water (get to the aspen den with a bucket of water and immerse the nest in it).

Honestly - I have little idea how to do this if the insect dwelling is located on a wall or in a corner. Yes, and under the roof (4 m high, however!) Climb something with a bucket of water or a hot kettle does not pull ...

  • Gasoline (kerosene, diesel fuel, WD-40 and the like). It is recommended that any of these fluids be abundantly sprayed (from a conventional garden sprayer) with a hornet’s hiding place - insects must die, and then we can easily remove the nest.

I do not like this idea that gasoline-kerosene-diesel fuel is highly flammable. And the house (and bathhouse) is wooden. In general, the wasps haven’t so much bothered me yet ...

  • By the way, there is information that kerosene on wasps no longer acts as before. Either the kerosene is now not the same, or the insects have mutated ... But there is a risk of just pissing them off and not achieving the desired effect. And they also say that winter diesel fuel is more effective than summer diesel fuel (though, where can you find it in August? You must stock up in advance ...)
  • Dichlorvos, domestos, bleach. Household chemicals advise to process a hornet's nest and places of accumulation of insects. Someone recommends that you first put a plastic bag on the nest, and spray poison into it, someone suggests that you first generously water the house with the chosen product, and then pack it.

In the first case, there is a high risk of being bitten during the “military operation”. However, choosing the second option, you should also not relax: from such "weapons" the wasps do not die immediately, but rush about for a while, biting everyone who turns up, so putting a bag on the nest will not be much easier.

In general, the reviews about dichlorvos are contradictory: some are delighted with him, they say that he solves the problem on the first try; others write that it turned out to be useless.

But the first ones are still noticeably larger, and there is one pattern: failure usually befalls those who decide to use the "new-fangled" version of the drug, the advantage of which the manufacturers declare the absence of an unpleasant odor.

The effect, as it turns out, is absent too. Therefore, choosing dichlorvos as a means of struggle, give preference to the traditional "smelly" option.

Summer residents also fight wasps with the help of deodorants, air fresheners and other fragrant aerosols (reading these tips, I immediately remembered how in our youth in the student dormitory of cockroaches they harassed hair lacquer - it’s a trick to invent fiction ...).

The essence of the use of any household chemicals is approximately the same: to destroy (or strongly stupefy) the inhabitants of the nest, and then remove and burn it.

You can fight insects and synthetic pyrethroids, such as cypermethrin and actellic. Mix them in equal proportions at the rate of 5 ml of each substance per liter of water.

In the attic where you have nests, you need to spray the nests, try to get a jet of solution inside the nest, wait 10-15 minutes, and then cut the nest at the base and immediately put it in a plastic bag and tie it. If the wasps settled on a site in the ground, then you have to process the entire site.

Advice!
Please note that during processing, the face should be covered with a gauze bandage of at least 3 layers of gauze. On hands - rubber gloves.Try to avoid getting cypermethrin and actellik on open parts of the body and eyes.

After processing, we advise you to wash your face, hands and all those parts of the body that were open during treatment from wasps with soap, preferably with household soap.

By the way, there are also known cases when the nests of wasps were shot from a gas pistol, and the large hornets nests arranged in the tree were burned together with the tree itself. We hope that it will not reach such extremes, and wasps will not cause you much trouble.

Preparations

The very first and correct decision in the independent fight against wasps will be the processing of the territory of the cottage. The modern chemical industry has found the answer to the question of how to get rid of wasps, and now everyone can easily solve this problem independently using special chemicals.

But before you consider the list of effective tools, you need to know that, together with a set of processing measures, you need to simultaneously get rid of the aspen nest itself. If this is not done, the persecution of insects will be inconclusive.

So, at the moment, in the markets and in chemical stores, you can buy quite a lot of different effective drugs. However, nevertheless, among the entire assortment, a certain list should be highlighted that will help to quickly and efficiently rid any dacha of attacks from wasps:

  1. "Troapsil." This tool is a powerful substance that helps to get rid of all types of flies and other insects. Its composition includes such potent components as pyrethroid, chlorpyrifos and abamectin.

Troapsil is bred in water, after which the place of accumulation of wasps is treated with it. Before using it, be sure to read the instructions for use.

  2. "Dare." The drug is odorless and allows you to easily destroy wasps and all types of pests that have chosen their summer cottage. This microencapsulated product has a very strong effect and its positive side is the duration of action.

He will work for another eight months after processing the place of settlement of wasps and other insects.

  3. "Ghetto". This drug has gained a lot of positive reviews from summer residents who have already used it. With the help of this tool it is necessary to process the aspen nest and the territories adjacent to it.

The effectiveness of the drug will be noticeable in a day. After this time, you can forget about the unpleasant neighborhood with harmful insects for a long time.

  4. Moskitol. Another effective means in the fight against wasps was the aerosol "Moskitol". With it, you can destroy wasps in residential, non-residential premises and on the street.

Services

It is possible to engage in independent struggle with wasps by folk and conventional means, but, unfortunately, this does not always guarantee increased effectiveness of the measures taken. The most correct decision will be to contact specialists.

Important!
Sanitary service or a private company that provides insect killing services can disinfect a summer cottage. In the process of destruction of wasps, specialists use modern equipment and potent drugs that are not on sale.

High-quality pest control will not only get rid of dangerous and harmful insects, but also ensure that they will not return for at least 5-7 years.

Call cost

Carrying out the disinsection of a summer cottage from wasps is a rather specific event. Before contacting the pest extermination service, you should know the prices for their services.

The price of disinfestation can be different and several factors affect its value. First of all, the cost of destroying wasps in a summer cottage will depend on the size of the area requiring processing, and on the chosen company that will carry out the pest control. Also, the price will depend on how far the cottage is from the city.

If the slot is unavailable ...

... then we have a problem. Because, without destroying the hornet’s dwelling, we won’t completely get rid of them. And where they just do not settle for residence: in the cracks under the floor, in metal pipes, under the skin of the walls - in any secluded corner.

If you expand your own home to get to the aspen, it is not your plan, try the “experienced tips”: those who have come across this situation recommend starting insect lime using chemistry (the same dichlorvos is quite suitable, but specialized tools all the more), and then tightly close up all the moves-exits leading to the socket. Note: mounting foam is not suitable - its wasps gnaw through (according to eyewitnesses).

Trap

A trap can also be made from a simple plastic bottle. Her neck needs to be cut off on the shoulders, turned over and inserted back. The bottle must be filled with sour compote. The wasp will fall into the trap, where it will die. A good result is given by spraying the curtains with vinegar.

Before using this tool, find out if the residents of the house are allergic to vinegar. If the hornet’s nest is in the ground, it can be poured with boiling water. A pot or kettle will not help in this case. If the cottage has hot water, connect the hose and water the nest.

After this, the hole in the soil should be covered with sand or earth and well-packed. However, wasps can build their nest in a place where they cannot get in with a bucket.

  • In this case, another method will help get rid of wasps. A plastic bag is taken and put on a nest. Then you need to attach it to the wooden parts of the house with adhesive tape or buttons. Using a syringe, any insecticidal agent must be injected into the package.

Leave the bag for several hours during which all wasps die. So that insects do not return to their old place of residence, the trace of the nest must be removed with a knife and treated with a solution of potassium permanganate or hydrogen peroxide, as well as an insecticidal agent.

  • Often use traps made of plastic bottles. Half a liter bottle is filled with beer, fermented compote or sugar syrup and a hole in the bottle is left no more than 1 cm. Insects, having flown into the bottle, cannot get out. This method works fine, but you can’t catch all the insects.
  • A vintage way to remove wasps with smoke. Fire should be brought closer to the nest. It is better for security purposes to do this in the grill. All wasps, fleeing the smoke, will leave the nest that needs to be destroyed - burn in the same barbecue.
  • You can use the dishwashing detergent. Why he is bred in hot water and spray the hole of the nest with soapy water several times before dawn, which effectively glues the wings of insects. You may need a spray the next morning.
  • And it is also known that insects do not like the smell of any oil products. Therefore, you can hang cloth soaked in kerosene, diesel oil, gasoline near the nests. Wasps will leave their nest.

Inaccessible nest

In this fight, the most important tool is the chemical preparations: Gett, Troapsil, Moskitol, Super-cobra, Dikhdofos, Smell-no, Intavir. These drugs treat your favorite sweet insect bait, which helps in their destruction.

Attention!
For aerosol chemical canisters, a long tube is fitted, a cloth is wound on its end, with which the exit from the aspen nest is blocked.

A tube is pierced inside the nest and the drug is sprayed. The tube is held for 10 minutes so that all wasps die. After this, the socket must be removed and burned.

Wasps on grapes: what to do and how to fight

The summer of last season was a success, especially the winegrowers were delighted with the warmth. But the wasp spoiled the idyllic picture. I have not observed such an invasion of these insects for all 30 years of my occupation in viticulture.

Interestingly, nothing portended such a situation.Usually, I found and destroyed wasp nests in advance, right away I saw only one small thing, and I already decided that this summer I would rest from the battles for the harvest.

But it was not there! At the end of July, as soon as the grapes began to ripen, the nightmare began! Literally the clouds of buzzing sweet lovers pounced on the still unripe berries, and the fruits of the apple tree, pear, and plum got as well.

And what is absolutely surprising, wasps began to gnaw on cabbages! Never heard of this before. The neighbors hordes of insects were driven out of beehives and destroyed stocks of honey. I had to remove them from there with a vacuum cleaner.

My site borders on fields, copses. Hence, such a "crop on wasps." Given these natural factors, I have relied on the selection of grape varieties whose berries are slightly or completely not damaged by flying "rodents".

Grape varieties that do not like wasps

To distract the hornet's tribe from the outstanding varieties, he gave them not very valuable ones, such as Friendship, Victoria. The berries of these wasp varieties are nonetheless highly respected. I noticed such a feature: the same variety can resist wasps in different years in different years.

So, last year they did not touch Timur-2, Flame, Charlie at all, although they had not disdained these varieties before. There were no damaged berries on the raisins of the Rileins pink sidlis, Gold sultanas, Attica. Zosya seedless. very little affected Rusball Muscat. But ayeu less tasty, in my opinion, Kishmish Zaporizhzhya was completely destroyed.

Advice!
It is generally accepted that wasps attract! very sweet nutmeg varieties. These criteria are fully consistent with the newest variety V. Zagorulko Rosmus {pink nutmeg). However, the aura itself was pleasantly surprised that the wasps did not touch the berries at all. I also did not have a single damaged Rosmus berry.

And if you add to this an early ripening period, a chic look of large clusters with a very sweet pink nutmeg berry 35 × 35 mm in size, then there is no such price. Varieties such as Aladdin, Galahad, Amethyst Novocherkassky suffered little from wasps. Anniversary Kostrikina, Brilliant.

From the pleasant discoveries of last season I want to highlight the first fruiting of the Rizamat Descendant. It began to ripen in mid-August, the signal cluster turned out to weigh over 1 kg, the berries were pink-red, of excellent taste. In appearance it is a typical Central Asian variety of Rizamat.

Wasps touched only individual berries. This is a new hybrid form of folk breeder V. Kapelyushny. Its varieties and hybrid forms, in addition to the large-fruited effect, are distinguished by resistance to wasps.

Such hybrid forms as ultra-early Adamas, Dion, Sudar were not affected at all. very weak - Sensation, Julian, Attila, Furor, Hadji Murat (Tajik selection).

If Hadji Murat struck with huge berries and clusters of 3 kg each, Furor was surprisingly tasteful: by the end of September, the berries had an unusual honey flavor, although, frankly, the year before last, Furor did not impress me much. But in the past, he fully justified its name.

Wasp control on grapes

Now a few layers on how to deal with wasps. First of all, prevention is needed: this is the destruction of hornet's nests, preliminary, before the mass departure, installation of traps.

Important!
You can pour sweet odorous tinctures of old jam, kvass, compotes into them. Especially effective mixture with the addition of honey. You can pick up damaged grapes in a bucket, add water with added sugar, and after a few days the wine will be ready - an excellent treat for wasps, which they cannot refuse. It remains only to pour it into traps.

Typically, traps are made from 1.5 liter plastic bottles. From above, about 1/3 of the bottle is cut off and the top is inserted with the neck down to the bottom, where the sweet bait is poured. Wasps penetrate through the hole inward, but cannot get out.

The most catchy were 200-300-gram glass jars, however, it is necessary to release them from the contents more often. The Otos drug advertised for wasp control is inferior in effectiveness to folk remedies.

Many growers at the first invasion of wasps try to quickly remove still unripe grapes. I would not advise in such a hurry. The point is that, over time, the skin of the berries becomes stronger, and wasps no longer bite so easily.

You can pre-cover the clusters with gauze, blocking access to the berries. With a certain persistence and patience, it is real for two weeks to catch wasp families based in a radius of several kilometers from the site with traps. It is advisable to have several bushes with later ripening berries.

I recommend the varieties of Count Monte Cristo, Nisin, In memory of Smolnikov, Alex, the New Century and some others that ripen in mid-September and the berries of which the wasps do not touch.

In addition, their activity during this period is sharply reduced. Clusters of these varieties can hang until the end of October, delighting the owners, but this is provided that there will be no severe frosts.

Earth Wasps: Features and Methods of Pest Control

The name "earthen wasp" is missing in the scientific classification. The people apply it to all varieties of wasps that build their nests directly in the soil.

Most often, they settle in the burrows of rodents or abandoned anthills, while ordinary paper wasps choose the roofs of sheds and other buildings as the location of their dwelling.

Insect features

This kind of wasp is found on land quite often, so many are interested in how to get rid of it. And is there any need to get rid of this insect?

Attention!
On the one hand, an earthen wasp is a pest, and on the other it brings certain benefits, destroying some small harmful insects, such as aphids and caterpillars. However, there is much more harm from them, so the answer is obvious - getting rid of earthen wasps is necessary.

The nests in which these wasps live resemble traditional bee hives in appearance. Despite the apparent crampedness of such a dwelling, not only a brood of an earthen wasp, but also several other wasps are freely placed inside it.

During a certain period, wasps live separately. But when it comes time to acquire offspring, the females begin to dig their nests at a very close distance - this way it is much easier for them to feed their larvae.

As a result, it turns out that a significant place on the land plot is densely seeded with wasp nests, which is by no means safe.

These insects feed mainly on sweet pollen and nectar of plants, small midges and aphids. To feed the larvae of small wasps, they collect the corpses of insects that have remained in the cobwebs.

Possible danger

Disputes are still ongoing regarding the harm and benefits of earthen wasps. The advantage of these insects is that they are engaged in the destruction of small pests - in particular, caterpillars, aphids, midges and some others.

Advice!
However, the harm caused by them greatly exceeds this benefit. The fact is that wasps take away the pollen they collected from hardworking bees.

In addition, these insects are very aggressive in nature, due to which they pose a threat to humans. Even just two hornet's nests, located next door on the land, is a dangerous signal. Insects are constantly circling in the front garden and near the house, so they can attack its inhabitants.

It is also very dangerous to engage in gardening work if there are one or more of these nests in the ground. It is enough to accidentally violate the integrity of the aspen dwelling, as insects will immediately display aggression.

If several nests are damaged at the same time, the consequences can be very sad for a person. Bites of earthen wasps often provoke strong allergic reactions, as well as swelling and fever.

It should be noted that if the nests of earthen wasps are solitary and located in the most remote areas of the garden, they do not need to be destroyed.

https://youtube.com/watch?v=wvv3NN2MIL

In this case, insects will be beneficial in the summer by eating small pests, and will disappear with the onset of autumn. In all other situations, you need to get rid of them, observing all safety precautions.

Recommendations and Precautions

In order to minimize the danger posed by wasps living in the land, they must be carefully and carefully managed.

  1. Before you get rid of wasp nests, you need to take care of reliable protection for yourself. An ideal option would be a regular suit for the beekeeper.

However, if you don’t have one, you can use any closed clothing made of thick and impermeable fabric. Be sure to protect your face and eyes by wearing a mask. At the same time, a hat should be on the head.

  2. An important rule - no sudden movements and loud sounds! Earth wasps have amazing ears, so they will respond immediately.
  3. To get rid of these insects, you need to wait for the dark. In the evening, wasps prepare for sleep in their nests. Thus, it is possible to destroy an entire family with larvae without any problems.
  4. If, nevertheless, the insects noticed something was amiss and began to actively fly out of the nest, you must immediately hide in a closed room. Keep in mind that it will be possible to begin further implementation of your plans no earlier than three hours later.

How to display wasps?

If the nest of the earthen wasp is located in the very center of the garden, beds or flower beds, it is necessary to get rid of it. Today, there are several effective methods that allow you to get rid of these insects.

  • The use of chemical insecticides. Particularly effective in this regard are such drugs as Aktara, Karbofos, Solfisan and several others. The solution of one of these tools must be poured directly into the nest, and then tightly close the exit from it with a piece of cloth, also impregnated in the solution.
  • People quite often use one of the simplest and most affordable ways - burning an aspen nest with a flame. In this case, it is necessary to fill in a hole a sufficient amount of kerosene or gasoline, about one or two liters.

Then you need to spray a few centimeters from the socket with combustible material so that a path is obtained. A set fire, containing many paper honeycombs, will burn out in a matter of minutes.

  • Another popular method involves pouring boiling water into the nest. Compared with the previous two, this procedure is less effective, and therefore requires repeated implementation.

In addition, to get rid of insects, you need to cover the nest with a stone after each serving of boiling water - this will not allow angry wasps to get out.

Regardless of which way you choose to deal with earthen wasps, always follow the utmost caution and rules of safe behavior.

Safety precautions

Going to battle with the wasps, it is very important to remember self-defense. The bites of these insects pose a real threat not only to health, but in some cases to life: if there is a predisposition to allergic reactions (which you may not even be aware of for the time being), even one or two “injections” that are harmless to an absolutely healthy person will suffice for serious swelling, suffocation and other "pleasures" that send the victim directly to intensive care.

Important!
If you are going to destroy the inhabited nest of wasps, be sure to take care of appropriate equipment: clothing made of thick fabric (and preferably with a hood), gloves (thick rubber or leather), a mosquito net, or other device to protect your face.

If wasps live in the country, be sure to keep suprastin, adrenaline and prednisone in the medicine cabinet.Even if you and your family members are not allergic to bites, these precautions may not be amiss. Ice and a tourniquet should also be on hand in case of a bite.

Common mistakes when trying to destroy wasps on your own

An attempt to isolate the hornet’s nest - to fill up the hornet’s plasticine with clay, cover it with cement mortar, glue it, plug it with a cloth so that no wasp crawls out. All this is unlikely to help!

It is practically not possible to isolate wasps from their nests mechanically - having excellent jaws, these insects are able to gnaw even concrete mortar through grains of sand.

Pouring boiling water over the nest of wasps is a very dangerous occupation - in this way you can destroy a small number of insects on the surface of the nest, but the main part will come into a state of aggression and attack the offender, i.e. on you.

Apply insect aerosol is a short-term measure and not 100% effective. Aerosol (even if it says "from wasps" on it) destroys only those insects on which it got during processing. The aftereffect of such drugs is quite short. And other insects that were not in the nest are likely to survive.

Attention!
In fairness, I note that if all the insects are already in the nest, and you can spray the aerosol directly into the nest, without giving a chance to fly out a single wasp, then success is possible. But doing it is risky anyway.

Burn a hornet’s nest with a blowtorch, for example, on earthen wasps, the effect is almost zero. On suspended nests, or in ceilings - there is a very big risk of being bitten, well, a fire can happen very easily, because usually wasps build their homes in dry, well-ventilated places, where the tree burns like a match.

First aid for a bite

Make soda lotions - in a half glass of water, dissolve 1 teaspoon of soda, soak a cotton swab and apply to the wound, take an anti-allergic drug (suprastin, diphenhydramine, diazolin, etc.).

A cold compress with a strong salt solution (2 tablespoons per glass of water) will relieve itching. Another option - immediately after the bite, rub the wound with garlic, onions or parsley, this should relieve swelling, you can attach a cotton swab with ammonia diluted with water 1: 5.

With a very strong reaction - the hormonal drug hydrocortisone and an immediate call to an ambulance. Do not lose a second if edema of the facial tissues, bronchospasm develop, frequent heartbeat, cramps, pain in the lower back, joints and heart area begin.

And yet, I want to note that wasps do not only harm their neighborhood in our suburban areas. Wasps feed their larvae with caterpillars, flies, bugs, sawfly larvae and other pests of the garden.

So if the wasps do not cause you trouble, do not sting you and do not harm the crop, then let them continue to live on your site, protecting it from pests!

Wasp Prevention

In order not to attract wasps, do not store rotted fruit in your area. It is advisable to make and close the lid close to the cesspool, as the decaying remnants of human food are very attractive to these insects.

Advice!
In addition, you need to carefully close all the cracks and holes in the attic in order to block their passage there. Only specialists know how to get rid of wasps in the country quickly and efficiently.

And a simple layman has to combine funds with them, come up with their own analogues and hope for an effective result.

  1. There was a nest with wasps in my country house, I found it right away as soon as wasps built it. They did not give life, especially to children. At one time, I got ready (dressed in a raincoat), doused it with gasoline and burned it. Since then, I have not had wasps in my country house.

  2. I do not agree that such methods of dealing with wasps are safe for humans - like slippers, a newspaper. Most safe for humans in the destruction of the literally fast detected wasps in the room: like a troapsil, mosquito, gett, will dare. It’s best to use and buy more often mosquito repellents and they will not smell much and there is no terrible smell of chemicals when you puff them.
