What to do if a wasp has bitten in a hand

Hello reader! It turns out that even in the most inconspicuous towns there are racecourses. At one of them, we ended up last weekend, traveling with friends around.

The location of the audience, of course, was modestly decorated, the town is still small. The stands are open. And then bad luck, one of the spectators was bitten by a wasp.

The presence of medical personnel is not provided there, only a veterinarian for horses, so I had to rescue a neighbor on the podium on my own. What to do if a wasp has bitten in a hand, I will teach you further.

The content of the article:

If bitten by a wasp. First aid for a bite of a wasp, bee, bumblebee or hornet

I am glad to present to your attention information about first aid for the bite of a wasp, bee, bumblebee or other similar insect. So, if you were bitten by a wasp, bee, bumblebee, first of all, you need to remain calm, and not to panic. Of course, the sensations are not pleasant, but in order for this bite not to turn into a nightmare, you need to remember those moments that I will write about below.

Wasp Bite Symptoms

After a wasp sting, a local reaction of the body is usually observed on the body. With bites in the eyes (eyelids), the face, or other softer tissues of the skin, swelling is more pronounced. It should also be taken into account that weakened people, allergies, children and women show a higher sensitivity to poison.

In addition to edema of the bite, the human body may have the following symptoms:

  • severe pain and burning;
  • redness of the bite;
  • the bite site is swollen;
  • rash throughout the body;
  • increase in body temperature;
  • headache;
  • nausea and vomiting;
  • body cramps.
The effects of a bite in a healthy person usually go away within a few days.

Danger from wasp sting

If one wasp stung you, then there would be no serious consequences, but if a person was stung by several dozen insects at the same time, then we can talk about a general toxic reaction.

Important!
Its severity will depend on the total amount of poison ingested. It is known that the dose of poison from a bite of 500 or more hymenopteran insects for humans is considered lethal.

The exception is 1-2% of people who are allergic to the poison of wasps, bees, bumblebees and other hymenoptera. Even if only one insect stung such a person, the consequences can be very serious.

In addition to urticaria and edema, in some cases shortness of breath, severe palpitations, dizziness, abdominal pain, nausea, vomiting, fever, body cramps, even a short-term loss of consciousness are possible. Swelling of the tongue and larynx is very dangerous, which can cause choking.

An allergic reaction does not occur when a person is first stung by a hymenopteran insect. However, an allergic reaction after each subsequent bite will be more severe.

The most severe life-threatening allergic reaction is anaphylactic shock. In this case, immediately after a bite, a person loses consciousness, he disrupts the activity of many organs and systems, primarily the cardiovascular system.

First aid for a bite of a wasp, bee, bumblebee

We have sorted out the identification of some stinging insects. What are the symptoms of their bites also found out. Now it remains to find out what needs to be done if you were stung by a wasp, bee, bumblebee or their relatives.

Get rid of the sting. It must be remembered that when a wasp stings, it is not necessary to look for its sting on the body, because she doesn’t leave him, well, of course, if you didn’t “imprint” her on yourself. A completely different thing, with a bee sting.

Attention!
The bee has a sting with notches, so it must be removed. This is a simple matter, the main thing is to disinfect the wound, as well as a bee sting extraction tool, so as not to introduce the infection into the wound.

You can do this with: peroxide, ammonia, diluted with water, iodine, alcohol solution, corticosteroid ointment - for a wound, ordinary medical alcohol - for an instrument, such as tweezers. Squeezing out the poison is not worth it, as you can easily infect it.

Now that there is no sting, it is necessary to prevent the spread of poison in the body, and also to prevent an allergic reaction.

  1. With a general toxic reaction, the victim is recommended to drink as much as possible. Preference is sweet water, hot sweet tea;
  2. In place of edema, put a heating pad with cold water or a wet towel, which will slow down the absorption of the poison;
  3. Soak the cloth with a solution of baking soda (1 teaspoon in 1 glass of water) and leave it in a sore spot for 15–20 minutes.
  4. A piece of soaked sugar attached to the wound helps to draw out the poison.

An allergic reaction is prevented by taking antihistamines, such as Claritin, Suprastin, or other similar drugs.

To relieve pain and swelling:

  • Apply a cold compress or ice wrapped in tissue to the bite site for at least 30 minutes. You can also apply a compress from a cloth dampened with alcohol or vinegar with water;
  • Make a compress of lemon juice. Eliminates pain and relieves swelling;
  • You can make a compress of tincture of a golden mustache with vodka;
  • Attach a chopped onion, tomato or garlic to the bite site;
  • Attach a cut apple to the wound;
  • Attach crushed or chewed leaves of fresh parsley to a sore spot;
  • Anoint the wound with Psilo-balm or Fenistil gel;
  • Apply a Validol tablet moistened with water to the site of the bite;
  • Take diphenhydramine. It is necessary to take this remedy if the edema is too large, i.e. if an allergic reaction has gone;
  • Gruel of soda with water. Attach to the bite site. Relieves redness, and swelling, and pain;
  • Attach a leaf of Kalanchoe or plantain to the wound;
  • Lubricate the skin at the site of the bite with a solution of calendula or plantain. They can be purchased at the pharmacy;
Alcohol is contraindicated because it leads to increased edema. To prevent a sharp decrease in blood pressure caused by urticaria, the victim can be given 20-25 drops of cordiamine.

People who are allergic to insect bites during the summer are advised to always carry the so-called allergic disease passport issued by an allergist.

The passport contains the name of the owner, his age, home address, telephone number, diagnosis, telephone number of the allergy department where the patient is observed, and those urgent measures that must be taken in case of a hymenoptera bite. In addition to the passport, it is advisable to have a syringe and a set of medicines listed in the passport.

In the event of anaphylactic shock, you must immediately call an ambulance or deliver the victim to a medical facility.

If a severe allergic reaction begins (anaphylactic shock)

In order to prevent complications or a critical situation, after a bite of a wasp or other stinging insect, if anaphylactic shock (severe allergic reaction) begins, the following measures must be taken:

  1. Release victim from tight clothing. Give free air access.
  2. In 2 cc one ampoule (1 ml) of adrenaline is drawn into the syringe. Next, 0.5 ml of the drug is injected into the victim’s shoulder. We close the syringe and, just in case, leave it with the adrenaline aside.
  3. Another syringe is taken - for 5 cubes. We collect 3 ampoules of dexamethasone into it (in total - 3 ml) and inject the drug into the other shoulder.
  4. If the symptoms do not begin to subside within 15 minutes, and the allergic reaction intensifies, we introduce the remaining 0.5 ml of adrenaline.
  5. In this case, in addition, you need to drink 2 tablets of Cetrin, or take Suprastin, Claritin, and other antihistamines.
  6. Apply a cold compress to the site of the bite and urgently deliver the victim to a medical facility.
  7. If the symptoms of anaphylactic shock begin to manifest again (itching increases, breathing is difficult), another 3 ml of Dexamethasone is intramuscularly administered.
  8. Before the doctors arrive, you can take additional measures described above in the section "First aid for wasp sting".

"Dexamethasone" has contraindications, so carefully read the instructions for this drug.

Some features of wasp behavior

It must be remembered that wasps never attack humans for no reason. They only sting when they defend themselves or they feel aggression on your part.

Of course, it is always unpleasant when a wasp buzzes above your head or near your face. People begin to wave with their own hands, trying to drive away an insect from themselves, which perceives your actions as aggression. Therefore, they sting.

Bees, unlike a wasp, can sting for no reason. Bees do not tolerate the smell of sweat, which in 99% of cases causes their attack.

In addition, when a bee stings, it injects a special substance besides poison, which is a signal for other bees to “attack this target”, so if you walk near hives on a hot day and one bee attacks you, try to get away from it as quickly as possible apiaries.

Never panic or try to wave your hands sweepingly, and especially do not try to slam a wasp or a bee with your hand.

Advice!
In an extreme case, you can try to bring down the insect to the ground using suitable improvised means, such as a towel, scarf or other items of clothing. But this is only in the most extreme case. The ideal option is to simply turn away and step aside.

Sometimes a wasp or bee or bumblebee bites in the most unexpected situations, when riding a motorcycle without a helmet, if you bump into them with your forehead, when you step on their house, which may be in the ground, or just use your finger to check why the closed flower is moving, how I happened to learn this in early childhood.

In any case, if you were bitten by an insect, do not panic, but soberly assess the situation and proceed to solve it.If you find that the site of the bite is gaining large swelling, fever, or other similar exacerbated symptoms, consult a doctor immediately and do not wait until a critical point occurs.

How to avoid wasp sting

Wasps, one of the few insects that do not have a clear scientific definition. In fact, any representative of stalked-bellied stinging insects not related to ants, bees and bumblebees can be called a wasp.

Wasp has a huge variety of species. Most often, paper wasps (polystyles) “contact” the person. These are public wasps, the nests of which can often be found near a person’s home. Bites of other species of wasps are less common.

Wasps, like most other animals, never attack humans for no reason. They sting only when they defend themselves or feel aggression. Of course, it is always unpleasant when a wasp flies above your head or near your face, but you should not try to drive the insect away from you. A wasp can perceive your actions as aggression.

If you see a wasp near you, do not panic or wave your hands. Moreover, do not try to slam the wasp with your palm. In an extreme case, you can try to knock an insect to the ground using a towel, scarf or other clothing.

But this is only in the most extreme case. Better calmly, trying not to hurt the insect, move to the side. Of course, no one is safe from accidental encounters with wasps, but if you are careful, you will minimize the possibility of a bite.

Most often, wasps sting in July and August. In order to less irritate insects, gathering in places where they are found in abundance, put on clothes made of light cloth that cover the neck, arms and legs as much as possible. Bright and dark colors attract insects more. Do not use perfumes, cologne, hair spray - their aroma attracts stinging insects. Do not go barefoot.

Important!
It is advisable for people who are allergic to insect bites to always have a passport issued by an allergist for an allergic patient.

It should indicate the name of the owner, his age, home address, telephone number, diagnosis, telephone number of the allergy cabinet where the patient is observed, and urgent measures to be taken in case of a hymenoptera bite. Also, it is advisable to have a syringe and a set of medicines indicated in the passport.

The consequences and symptoms of a wasp sting

Wasps sting much more often and more painfully than bees. Almost immediately, after you were bitten by a wasp, you feel severe pain, burning, itching. After a wasp sting, edema is usually observed on the body. With bites in the eyes or eyelids, the face, or other soft tissues of the skin, swelling is more pronounced. Weakened people, allergies, children and women show a higher sensitivity to poison.

In addition to edema of the bite, the human body may have the following symptoms:

  • severe pain and burning
  • redness of the bite
  • rash all over the body
  • fever
  • headache
  • nausea and vomiting
  • body cramps

Allergic reaction to a wasp sting

The consequences of a bite in a healthy person usually go away within a few days, but if a person was bitten by several wasps at the same time, then everything can be much more serious. It all depends on the total amount of poison that has entered the body and the susceptibility of the body.

For an ordinary person, a dose of poison equivalent to 500 wasp stings is lethal, and for people who are allergic to wasp venom, a bite of even one insect can be dangerous.

In addition to the usual symptom, such people in some cases experience shortness of breath, palpitations, dizziness, abdominal pain, nausea, vomiting, fever, body cramps, and even short-term loss of consciousness. Swelling of the tongue and larynx, which can cause choking, is very dangerous.

The most severe life-threatening allergic reaction is anaphylactic shock.In this case, immediately after a bite, a person loses consciousness, he disrupts the activity of many organs and systems, primarily the cardiovascular system.

In the event of anaphylactic shock, you must immediately call an ambulance or deliver the victim to a medical facility.

What not to do if a wasp stings you

If a wasp stings you or someone else, first of all, you need to remain calm and not to panic. Of course, the sensations at the same time are not the most pleasant, but in order to properly help, you need calm. Taking alcohol with a wasp sting is contraindicated, since it leads to increased edema.

What to do if a wasp stings

When a wasp stings, the sting usually does not remain in the human body. But if it still remains there, then it needs to be pulled out. Use tweezers. It is not worth squeezing out the poison, since it can easily cause an infection. Next, you need to prevent the spread of poison in the body and prevent an allergic reaction.

  1. With a general toxic reaction, the victim is recommended to drink as much as possible. Preference is sweet water, hot sweet tea.
  2. In place of edema, put a heating pad with cold water or a wet towel, which will slow down the absorption of the poison.
  3. Soak the cloth with a solution of baking soda (1 teaspoon in 1 glass of water) and leave it in a sore spot for 15–20 minutes.
  4. A piece of soaked sugar attached to the wound helps to draw out the poison.
  5. An allergic reaction is prevented by taking antihistamines, such as Claritin, Suprastin, or other similar drugs.

To relieve pain and swelling, use the following tips:

  • Apply a cold compress or ice wrapped in tissue to the bite site for at least 30 minutes. You can also apply a compress from a cloth dampened with alcohol or vinegar with water.
  • Make a compress of lemon juice. Eliminates pain and removes swelling.
  • You can make a compress from the tincture of a golden mustache with vodka.
  • Attach a chopped onion, tomato or garlic to the bite site.
  • Attach a cut apple to the wound.
  • Attach crushed or chewed fresh parsley leaves to the sore spot.
  • Anoint the wound with Psilo-balm or Fenistil gel.
  • Place a Validol tablet moistened with water at the site of the bite.
  • Take diphenhydramine. It is necessary to take this remedy if the edema is too large, i.e. if an allergic reaction has gone.
  • Gruel of soda with water. Attach to the bite site. Relieves redness, and swelling, and pain.
  • Attach a leaf of Kalanchoe or plantain to the wound.
  • Lubricate the skin at the site of the bite with a solution of calendula or plantain. They can be purchased at the pharmacy.
To prevent a sharp decrease in blood pressure caused by urticaria, the victim can be given 20-25 drops of cordiamine.

Interesting facts on the topic

Wasps have a smooth sharp sting, easily penetrating the skin and back, so these insects can sting repeatedly, each time injecting a certain dose of poison into the victim.

According to some reports, angry wasps often pounce on those who are allergic to their bites. How they recognize this is a mystery to scientists. Aspen poison is weaker than bee venom, but much more painful.

If a wasp has bitten in the face

As a rule, wasp stings are painful and cause swelling (tissue swelling) in the affected area. If the wasp has bitten in the face, then the swelling will be severe, and almost always the wasp sting is more severe in children. Pain, burning, redness, and headache may also be noted.

Attention!
All this is unpleasant, but usually goes away within a few hours. However, if several wasps have bitten, a severe reaction to the poison may develop. Therefore, it is not necessary to stir up wasp nests.

About 1-2% of people are allergic to wasp, bee, bumblebee and other hymenoptera poison.

However, an allergic reaction after each subsequent bite will be even more severe.

The most severe life-threatening allergic reaction is anaphylactic shock. In this case, immediately after a bite, a person loses consciousness, he disrupts the activity of many organs and systems, primarily the cardiovascular system.

So, if a wasp, bee or bumblebee has bitten, what should I do? We remember the rules of first aid:

  1. Squeezing the poison is not worth it, as it is easy to infect. A sting with a wasp sting can also not try to dig out, it does not leave it. But the bees and bumblebees leave, so the sting can be removed with a sterile needle from the syringe, after treating the site of the bite with chlorhexidine.
  2. Now that there is no sting, it is necessary to prevent the spread of poison in the body, and also to prevent an allergic reaction.
  3. With a general toxic reaction, the victim is recommended to drink as much as possible.
  4. In place of edema, put a heating pad with cold water or a wet towel, which will slow down the absorption of the poison, and it is better - a cooling bag, frozen meat or vegetables from the freezer (wrap in a towel);
  5. Soak the cloth with a solution of baking soda (1 teaspoon in 1 glass of water) and leave it in a sore spot for 15–20 minutes.
  6. An allergic reaction is prevented by taking antihistamines, such as clarithin, suprastin, or other similar drugs.
  7. Alcohol is contraindicated, since an allergic reaction and swelling will only intensify!

Those who are allergic to hymenoptera bites should always carry antihistamine tablets with them, and when they bite, immediately call an ambulance or flee to a medical facility. It is even better if there is a medical worker directly next to you, even a vacationer in the country.

It is also advisable to keep syringes and ampoules with prednisone, adrenaline and suprastin in the house, if the medic is nearby, he will figure out what to do, since the shock comes very quickly and the pill will not have time to suck in! And an allergist can give immediate recommendations about the drugs, he will also write a prescription.

What to do if a bee or wasp has bitten?

With the advent of warm summer days, the activity of bees and wasps is activated, which bring people not only benefits in the form of tasty and healthy honey, but can also cause serious trouble.

So, bee and hornet stings can provoke the development of various diseases and even lead to death. How to act correctly when bitten by these insects and how to protect yourself from their bites will be discussed later.

A bee or wasp sting?

Many of us in childhood could not distinguish a bee from a wasp, and this is very important, since first aid for their bites is somewhat different. Well, fill this gap and highlight the main differences between these insects.

  1. Bees attack only when they feel the danger on the part of a person, in other words, they defend themselves. But the wasps are annoying: to sting, she does not need any reason.
  2. A bee stings only once in its entire life, as its serrated sting gets stuck in the skin and comes off, which causes the bee to die. The wasp can sting many times, because it has a smooth sting that does not break and easily leaves the skin of a person.
  3. Wasps sting more painfully than bees.
  4. The rounded bee body is covered with villi and is distinguished by a muted color, while in the case of wasps the body is smooth elongated and has a bright color.
  5. Bees feed only on pollen, while the diet of wasps is very diverse.

Bite symptoms

  • Sharp pain and burning sensation at the bite site
  • The appearance of edema, which can progress
  • Redness of the affected area
  • The formation of a white dot at the site of penetration of a bee or aspen sting
The development of an allergic reaction manifested by urticaria, cough, shortness of breath, nausea, vomiting, chills, swelling of soft tissues, a sharp decrease in pressure, fever, dizziness, loss of consciousness.

Bee bitten (wasp): first aid

Most often, bee and hornet bites do not pose a serious danger to human life. But if the insect stung a child or a person suffering from an allergy, then in order to exclude serious negative consequences, it is necessary to correctly provide first aid to the victim.

  1. Carefully remove the sting without squeezing it. It is best to use tweezers for this purpose, while the bite site and the tool itself must be pre-disinfected with any alcohol solution, for lack of which the affected area should be washed with clean water. If a bee stings you, then in the process of pulling the sting, it is advisable not to damage the small bag of poison attached to the sting core.
  2. After removing the sting, disinfect the wound with alcohol, iodine, brilliant green, hydrogen peroxide or regular soap.
  3. Relieve pain by treating the affected area with saline, for the preparation of which you need 1 tsp. a spoon and a glass of boiled water. You can also resort to the help of painkillers and antipruritic drugs.
  4. To eliminate or alleviate the manifestations of allergies, it is recommended to take any antihistamine.
  5. Drink plenty of fluids, and it is desirable that it contains glucose.
  6. With the rapid development of allergy symptoms, you can use an auto-injector with adrenaline.
  7. To prevent a decrease in pressure, you must drink 25 drops of cordiamine.
  8. In case of cardiac arrest or respiratory arrest, the victim is given artificial respiration, as well as a closed heart massage.

Important! If the condition of a victim of a bee or wasp bite worsens, then seek qualified medical help immediately!

How to relieve swelling if a bee has bitten

An ordinary cold compress will help cope with puffiness provoked by a bee or wasp sting, because low temperature not only reduces nerve endings, but also dulls pain receptors, bringing a slight, but still relief.

Advice!
You can overcome puffiness with the help of special ointments and creams with which pharmacies abound. If there is no opportunity to purchase such a tool, then you can use the recipes of traditional medicine.

So, you can cook soda gruel: soda is diluted on the affected area of the skin, diluted with water to a gruel-like consistency.

Significantly reduce edema intake of activated carbon at the rate of 1 tablet per 10 kg of body weight. You can attach an alcohol compress to the bite site (the main thing is that the alcohol content does not exceed 70%).

Also removes the swelling compress from the juice of mint or onion. Of the folk methods, it is possible to note the application of crushed plantain, celandine or parsley to a sore spot.

Important! Often, swelling after a bee or wasp sting passes quickly. If this does not happen within two days, then you should immediately consult a doctor!

How to remove a tumor if a bee has bitten

Redness and swelling appear instantly at the site of a bee or wasp sting. This is especially dangerous if the bee was swallowed, and the bite fell in the throat. In this case, the resulting tumor will block the airways, which will cause respiratory arrest.

Refined sugar, applied to the bite site and neutralizing the effect of the poison, will help remove the tumor. No less effective compresses with ice, ammonia and a solution of potassium permanganate.

You can also reduce the swelling by rubbing a sore spot with lemon juice or ordinary table vinegar (you can use fresh cucumber cut into slices as a coolant).

What can not be done with a bite of bees and wasps

  • To kill or injure a stinging bee, which in a similar situation releases substances that cause aggression of the whole swarm. And this threatens with a massive bee attack.
  • Rub or comb the place of the bite, otherwise poison may get into neighboring tissues, which significantly increases the risk of infection.
  • Press on the bite, trying to take out the sting (this will help to prevent the spread of infection).
  • Drink alcohol, which dilates blood vessels and opens the way for the spread of poison.
  • Take sleeping pills that enhance the effects of the poison.

Bite in the head

A bee or wasp sting in the face can provoke pain, and can lead to severe swelling, an allergic reaction, and suffocation. Moreover, if more than three individuals stung you, a toxic reaction may develop. The fact is that bee venom in such quantities is very toxic and can lead to a noticeable deterioration in health.

The most dangerous bites on the lip, tongue or larynx: in these cases, the resulting edema can spread to the entire larynx, which can cause choking. Therefore, in such cases, you should immediately call an ambulance crew.

Lip bite

If a bee or wasp has bitten on the lip, it is urgent to seek medical help from a doctor.

Important!
In order to alleviate the condition of the victim should, first of all, treat the damaged area with soapy water. You can also use a face tonic without alcohol, since alcohol enhances tissue swelling.

Next, we take out the sting and disinfect the place of the bite, after which we take an antihistamine. A stung lip swells quickly, which is not worth being scared. Edema will disappear in a day - two. But still compresses with chamomile, green tea or aloe vera will not interfere as a sedative, analgesic and decongestant.

Eye bite

The eye is a very sensitive organ that responds to any external action with a pronounced reaction. And a bee or wasp sting is no exception.

The danger of a bite in the eye also lies in the fact that it is located close to the main mucous membranes, as a result of which swelling of the eyelid can affect other parts of the face and neck, thereby provoking not only visual impairment, but also choking.

Signs of a bite in the eye:

  1. sharp pain
  2. redness of the eyelid
  3. burning sensation
  4. profuse tear
  5. inflammation of the mucous membrane of the eye and eyelid (up to the development of panophthalmitis)
  6. closure of the palpebral fissure.

Peak puffiness of the eyelid is observed the day after the bite. In addition, swelling, itching and pain in the eyes appear, tearing is difficult, and vision deteriorates. The listed symptoms can be observed within 2 to 10 days.

In severe cases, mucopurulent discharge and even destruction of the sclera can be observed, not to mention the development of such serious diseases as cataracts and glaucoma.

First aid for a bite in the eye is no different from measures taken if a wasp or bee stings anywhere in the body.

But! With a bite in the eye, one must act extremely carefully, and after removing the sting, it is imperative to consult a doctor, which will help to exclude the development of complications.

Neck bite

A bite to the neck is characterized by severe swelling and inflammation of adjacent lymph nodes, as well as the appearance of pulling pains not only at the site of the bite, but also directly in the lymph nodes.

Edema, like redness, lasts on the skin for one to ten days. The main danger of a bite in the neck is the possibility of swelling of the larynx, which can lead to respiratory arrest and death. Therefore, it is extremely important to correctly provide first aid and deliver the victim to the hospital.

At home, recipes of traditional medicine will help relieve swelling:

  1. Onion: the onion is cut in half and is applied with a slice to the site of the edema.
  2. Collection of herbs of plantain, dandelion and parsley, which are taken in equal proportions and passed through a juicer, after which cotton swabs are soaked in the resulting juice, which are frozen, and then applied to the edematous areas of the skin.
  3. Raw potatoes, which should be rubbed on a grater, and put the resulting slurry for 10 minutes to the site of the bite.

Leg or arm bite

A bee sting in the upper or lower extremity does not pose a serious danger to people who are not allergic. Therefore, for them, it is enough to remove the sting and process the bite site. Swelling, redness and itching, as a rule, pass within a day.

What to do if a bee bit a baby

Sweets are the favorite treats of not only children, but also wasps with bees. Therefore, the victims of these stinging insects are often not only adults, but also children. What to do if the child was bitten by a bee?

Fortunately, most children tolerate bee and hornet stings, but sometimes they also have allergic reactions of varying severity, characterized by redness of the skin, its swelling, pain at the site of the bite, burning and itching.

As in adults, cases are especially dangerous when the bees sting in the head area, that is, where the blood vessels are close to the skin.

Then dizziness, fever, vomiting, loss of consciousness and swelling of the larynx are added to the above manifestations of the bite, which is extremely dangerous. In this case, parents must deliver the child to the hospital!

How to act?

  • First, you need to remove the sting.
  • Secondly, disinfect the bite site.
  • Third, neutralize the effects of the poison. So, wasp venom causes an alkaline reaction, so you need to treat the affected area with acid, for example, lemon juice or aspirin, diluted with water until gruel forms. In addition, aspirin has a painkiller effect, which will alleviate the condition of the child. But bee venom provokes the development of an acid reaction, and therefore it is necessary to neutralize it with alkali, namely a soap solution.
  • Fourth, it is necessary to provide the child with a plentiful drinking regimen, and the fluid used should be cold. The fact is that bee venom spreads very quickly throughout the body, and hot drink will only accelerate this process.
  • Pain can also be relieved with the help of ice or an aqueous solution of ammonia (water and ammonia are taken in a ratio of 1: 5, respectively).
  • Do not forget about the slightly pink solution of potassium permanganate, for lack of which you can use a salt solution prepared at the rate of one teaspoon of salt per 250 ml of water.
  • If the trouble happened in nature, then you can use plants such as plantain, rhubarb, parsley root. In no case should clay, earth or sand get into the wound, which will help prevent infection of the bite site.
  • Edema and burning often go away after 1 - 2 hours, if within two days the swelling, itching and redness do not go away, you should consult a doctor to avoid allergies and infection.
Important! If your baby is allergic, then always carry anti-allergic medications with you to help reduce allergy symptoms.

And one more thing: do not yell at the baby, on the contrary, try to caress him and calm him down, because he really hurts, and therefore he can perceive any manipulations to remove the sting and treat the wound negatively.

How to protect yourself from bees and wasps

Do not wave your hands in front of wasps and bees in an attempt to drive them away. They perceive such human behavior as an attack, and therefore they will defend themselves, that is, attack.

  1. Use special insect repellents.
  2. Do not kill the bee, especially if its family is nearby, if you do not want the special substances secreted by the bee at the time of death to attract the attention of its angry relatives.
  3. Do not walk barefoot on the grass, especially if you are prone to allergies.
  4. Do not wear clothes of bright colors (especially with floral prints) in places where crowds of bees and wasps. Give preference to neutral tones: beige, white, green, blue.
  5. Do not use perfumes and lotions with a sweet or pungent aroma.
  6. Be vigilant and careful on picnics and in places favored by these insects.

Bite symptoms

In this situation, the main thing is not to panic and act quickly to prevent the spread of poison in the body. For most people, a bite of one wasp does not threaten any serious consequences, the exception is people who are allergic to hymenoptera poison, including wasps.

The bite of even one insect for allergy sufferers is extremely dangerous and fraught with serious consequences up to anaphylactic shock. If you do not belong to this category of people and clearly know the algorithm of actions for a bite, and, most importantly, quickly complete them, then very soon you will forget about this nuisance.

The sensation of a wasp sting is comparable to a slight burn. In this case, usually the site of the bite swells, and especially the soft tissues (face, eyelids).

Attention!
In addition to the local reaction, wasp venom can also cause an organism reaction such as pain, burning, rash throughout the body, headache, fever, nausea and vomiting. This does not mean that all these symptoms may appear together - in each case, everything is individual.

The weaker the person, the stronger the reaction to the bite. So, usually in women and children, the consequences of an insect bite are more serious, since they are more sensitive to its poison.

Although, again, everything is very individual. But, the sooner measures are taken to prevent the spread of poison, the smaller the consequences and the faster they will pass. This rule applies to everyone.

What to do

The first one. Thoroughly rinse the site of the bite, washing off the dirt and the remains of the poison. Unlike their relatives of bees, wasps do not leave a sting, so do not try to look for it, picking up the wound. Do not bother once again the place of the bite, try not to rub, scratch or touch it again.

The second one. Disinfect the bite site. The best option is alcohol, zelenka, iodine, 3% hydrogen peroxide, furatsilina solution. If none of this is at hand, wash the bite area with ordinary soap.

The third. Get rid of the poison. The most affordable way to apply a piece of sugar moistened with water to the bite site.

Fourth. To slow down the absorption of poison that has already entered the body and prevent the spread of edema, you should attach something wet and cold to the site of the bite, for example, a heating pad, ice or a wet towel.

You can also make a compress from lemon juice - this simple remedy eliminates pain and partially removes puffiness. The gruel of soda with water also acts. In field conditions, an indispensable tool in such cases is a plantain leaf. Just do not forget to rinse it, so as not to infect.

Advice!
Fifth, in this situation, it is not superfluous to drink any antihistamine to prevent the occurrence of a serious allergic reaction. Do this even if you still have not had a serious allergic reaction in such cases. As they say, just in case.

Sixth. To avoid the spread of infection, you can (if the place of the bite allows, for example, an arm or leg) to place a tourniquet above the site of the bite. This measure is not mandatory, but it will not be superfluous.

Seventh. Drink more fluids. Sweet hot tea or sweet water is recommended.

When to see a doctor

Watch your well-being, and if, despite all the measures taken, it clearly worsens, the bite becomes more swollen, the temperature rises, seizures intensify - do not wait - immediately consult a doctor.

Even if you haven’t had anything like it before, remember that no one is safe from allergies - it can occur at any time, under any circumstances, and in any person.

Be sure to consult a doctor if you have been "attacked" by several wasps at the same time. In the case when a person is bitten by many wasps, a general toxic reaction of the body occurs, therefore, qualified assistance from a professional doctor will be needed. More than three is already a lot, and bites of more than five hundred wasps are considered fatal.

The reaction of the body to a wasp sting largely depends on the place. The most dangerous are bites in the face, and especially on the lip, larynx, tongue, as they can lead to suffocation. In such cases, you need to contact a medical institution immediately.

What not to do

  • The first one. In no case do not drink alcohol - this can trigger an increase in symptoms.
  • The second one. Do not squeeze out poison - this can lead to the spread of infection throughout the body.

Can a wasp sting be prevented?

Annoying wasps are quite peaceful and fearful creatures. They never attack first. When we humans begin to wave our hands hysterically, trying to drive away the wasp, we scare it and it attacks, defending itself. That is, it is most reasonable when a wasp is circling around you, simply not noticing it and just stepping aside.

How to make secure

There are special aerosols that repel insects, including wasps, therefore, going to nature, take such a can with you and do not forget to use it if necessary - not a single wasp, bee, bumblebee, etc., will fly close to you.

And people suffering from this kind of allergy must always have antihistamines with them, and if they are bitten by a wasp or some other insect, they must take it without waiting for a doctor. In many cases, this will help prevent serious consequences, and sometimes save a life.

First aid for a bite

We often, especially in the warm season, go to nature, out of town. Someone likes to fish, someone to delve into a summer cottage, someone to roam the forest. And everywhere danger can lie in wait. Today we’ll talk about what to do if you were bitten by a wasp and what first aid should be provided to the victim next to you.

Bite symptoms

The bite is very painful, it is a sharp, burning pain that pierces the affected area. Then very quickly this place swells, turns red, starts to itch. Temperature may rise. If first aid is immediately provided, then the symptoms will pass quickly enough.

It is especially unpleasant if the wasp has bitten on the lip, in the ear or eyelid - these places are very sensitive to such injuries. The main thing is that you do not have an allergic reaction, because a bite can cause severe allergies.

And in this case, general poisoning of the body will begin and this can lead even to the most sad consequences. Therefore, immediately at the first opportunity it is better to see a doctor, and he will more accurately tell you what to do and how serious the bite is for you.

What to do in this case

If you or the person next to you was bitten by a wasp, then first aid should be immediately. If you carry antihistamines with you, it is better to drink them for safety reasons according to the instructions. In this case, it is not necessary to take out the sting, since a wasp, unlike a bee, does not leave it where the bite occurred.

It is necessary to suck out the poison from the affected area and fill it with alcohol tincture, disinfecting and preventing infection. But you do not need to pick the wound so as not to infect the infection. To remove the tumor, you need to apply a salt or soda compress.

Important!
Preferably in a warm and clean form. If the bite is in the arm, foot or finger, then such lotions will quickly relieve irritation, pain and itching. If the bite was on the lip, then it is better to use less traumatic for the mucous means, for example, a decoction of chamomile, plantain.

If the wasp stung in the ear, then treating it yourself is very difficult, it is better to entrust it to the doctor.A bite in the tongue is very dangerous, it can swell very much and actually block access for air, leading to suffocation.

Therefore, it is so important in nature to look into a glass with sweet juices and soda. If stung in the throat - it can also lead to severe swelling and suffocation.

If a child is injured

If your baby was bitten by a wasp in nature, then you need to act quickly, especially if you know about a possible allergic reaction. In children, the reaction to bites in general is not predictable and stronger than in adults.

If stung in a hand, foot or finger, then you need to apply a tourniquet just above the wound, then gently wash the wound and put an anti-inflammatory compress.

At the same time, it is imperative to give anti-allergic tablets, since a bite can provoke a strong reaction, up to severe swelling. It would be nice to attach something cold to the wound, for example, a glacier from a cooler bag. This will help relieve inflammation and swelling.

What natural remedies to use

If you are outside the city, then you can use folk remedies, which are also able to relieve inflammation, swelling and redness, if you were stung by a wasp. For example, it perfectly relieves pain and swelling dandelion juice, inflammation will remove a sheet of plantain or mallow juice.

Well, and if the time of flowering chamomile, then quickly make a decoction of it is not difficult. You can attach a piece of sugar to the wound, it will help stretch the poison.

What you need to know

It is believed that a small dose of alcohol will help relieve pain and relieve inflammation. But this is categorically contraindicated, as it can further increase swelling. Do not try to pick up the wound with tweezers or a needle, the sting is not there, but you can get a strong infection.

Attention!
If nausea, shortness of breath occurs, the temperature rises sharply, cramps, then you need to immediately call an ambulance or take the victim to the hospital under your own power. A wasp sting is harmless enough if you are not allergic, so don't worry too much.

But, if you have an allergy, then this can lead to very severe shock and even death. In addition, if suddenly you were so unlucky that you were bitten immediately by a dozen wasps, then go to the hospital right away, even if you feel normal.

After all, this can lead to serious poisoning of the body. And the bites of many wasps can even lead to the death of a person, so it is so important in nature to stay away from large wasp hives.

Let all your trips to nature, to the country, to the country, to the village end only with pleasant memories and insects do not cause you problems and troubles. Well, and if you still get into a difficult situation, you will always be armed with knowledge of how to deal with it!

What to do if a wasp has bitten in a hand

A lot of people whom the wasp stung at least once in a life. Wasp bites, for example in the arm, lead to unpleasant consequences: the bite site swells, pain and intolerable itching appear. All these symptoms pass away by themselves over time. Another thing when it comes to allergies.

Then an insect bite can be deadly. The outcome largely depends on the degree of sensitivity of the body to wasp venom. Medications and folk remedies help reduce pain, relieve swelling, stop an allergic reaction. The cheat sheet will tell you what to do if a wasp has bitten in your hand.

First aid

The most important thing is not to panic, to behave calmly. With the threat of an allergy, panic will only harm and prevent focus in the current situation. In the usual situation, when the reaction to the bite does not cause serious concern, the following should be done:

  1. Suck poison out of a wound;
  2. To attach to the stung place a product in which there is acid (a slice of apple, lemon, orange, which partially neutralize toxins in the wound that has not yet closed);
  3. Then it is necessary to cool the affected area of the skin (hold on it a metal object, a product from the freezer, an ice pack, if any):
  4. At the same time, you can take a pill "Diazolin" or "Suprastin." These medications prevent allergies from developing and prevent the response of the human body to an insect bite.
  5. An equally important detail in a situation when a wasp has bitten in the hand is the treatment of the bite site with an antibacterial agent, especially if the wasp stings a child. Children always always comb a bitten place and can infect it. To prevent this from happening, the wound must be disinfected with any antiseptic found in the medicine cabinet: brilliant green or hydrogen peroxide, at worst, just vodka.

Special attention deserves the situation when a person has an increased sensitivity to insect toxins. Then there is fever, nausea, abdominal pain, headaches. The most unpleasant of all allergic reactions to wasp venom is Quincke's edema.

Even more dangerous is anaphylactic shock, which can result in death. An acute reaction to a wasp sting does not happen often. But if the human body reacts to poison in this way, then the allergic process develops very quickly.

To stop it, you need specialized medical care! People who know about their reaction to insect venom should have an auto-injector with epinephrine (adrenaline), which will help in an emergency.

An extremely dangerous situation occurs when a group of insects stings. Then, even in a poison-resistant organism, intoxication develops. Even more dangerous is the hornet attack. They look like wasps, but only larger. From one bite of a hornet of poison, much more enters the body. If there was a situation like this, do not hesitate - call an ambulance.

How to survive a wasp sting

Compresses It is useful to apply a cooling compress to the bitten area. The meaning of the method is that the blood flow slows down and, therefore, the toxin in the body does not spread so quickly. The faster the compress is delivered, the more effective its action.

Advice!
Medicines: antiallergic drugs and antiseptics. After half an hour - an hour, the compress is removed and the wound is treated with agents that will help reduce pain, itching and inflammation. This action can be carried out before applying a cold compress.

The main thing is that the bite does not go unnoticed. Today, some of the well-known and most effective medicines that are used after stinging wasps or other poisonous insects are:

  • Fenistil-gel (reduces pain and itching, inhibits the development of inflammatory processes, reduces the risk of allergies);
  • Insectline (has anti-inflammatory effect, reduces pain);
  • Menovazine (a cheap antiseptic that relieves pain and itching);
  • Gardex Family, Gardex Beby (modern drugs for the treatment of insect bites, including wasps);
  • Soventol (an effective analgesic);
  • Advantan-gel (inhibits the appearance of allergies).
Alternative methods and means of treating insect bites:

  1. pulverized parsley root;
  2. a slice of lemon;
  3. a slice of garlic or onion;
  4. leaf of a plantain known to all;
  5. gauze soaked with natural essential oil.

In our world, of course, they prefer specialized drugs. But the recipes of our grandmothers should not be discounted, but to have them in your storeroom as an unforeseen event.

Mistakes to Avoid

It is important to know what to do if a wasp stings in your hand. No less important is the question of what should not be done (wrong actions are worse than inaction):

  • The first one. Search for a wasp sting in a wound is meaningless, because the wasp doesn’t leave him, and the time for emergency assistance will irrevocably go away.
  • The second one. You can not squeeze out the injected poison, becauseblood circulation in the damaged area increases, which leads to an acceleration of the spread of toxins.
  • The third. You can not comb the wound - you can bring the infection.
  • Fourth. Do not apply earth to the wound or use dirty water to cool it for the same reason.
  • Fifth. It is forbidden to take strong antihistamines without obvious signs of an allergy. It is enough to take one tablet of Diazolin or Suprastin.
  • Sixth. The degree of swelling does not depend on the amount of fluid consumed. On the contrary, a large amount of it helps to reduce intoxication. Therefore, you can drink water, you can not limit its consumption.

Actions if a wasp stung

A wasp sting differs significantly from the bites of insects such as, for example, a bee or mosquito. A bee at the moment when it stings a person leaves its sting in his skin, and therefore dies some time later.

The wasp sting has no notches; after a bite, it remains in the body of the insect, which flies safely and continues to exist. In addition, the wasp is much larger than a bee, therefore, it stings a little more painfully.

Like most insects, wasps appear on the street with the onset of heat, usually in the last month of spring. You can encounter this hymenoptera anywhere, most often outside the city, in the country or in the field. Wasps can be in love with human habitation.

They build nests under the roofs of frequent wooden houses, outbuildings, garages. Such a nest is a small cocoon of gray color. Such proximity to insects is not only unpleasant, but also dangerous for humans. It is sometimes quite difficult to get wasps settled under the roof of the house.

Stinging, the wasp injects a small amount of poison into the human body, which can cause an allergic reaction and lead to its general intoxication. Usually, the bite of one wasp does not pose a danger to human life, since the amount of poison injected into it is so small that it is not capable of provoking serious poisoning.

Important!
At the moment when the wasp stings, a person feels acute pain from her sting, then redness of the skin occurs at the site of the bite, its slight swelling may be observed.

In some individuals, as a rule, women and young children, a wasp sting may deteriorate and a slight increase in body temperature may occur. Similar symptoms last for several hours or 2-3 days, then completely disappear.

The bite of any insect is dangerous for its ability to cause severe swelling, provoke the occurrence of urticaria. Therefore, immediately after it has occurred, some actions should be taken that will allow to avoid the unpleasant and even dangerous consequences of intoxication of the body with poison.

What should I do if a wasp stings?

The place of the wasp sting must be disinfected, washed carefully with antibacterial soap, then lubricated with an antiseptic, because the sting of the insect can contain various pathogens that can cause various human diseases.

For example, staphylococcus aureus. Prevent the spread of poison throughout the body, as well as reduce swelling allows the cold. Ice must be applied to the sore spot for 15-20 minutes. It is also known that wasp venom is able to neutralize ordinary Aspirin.

The tablet can be taken orally, if there are contraindications, crush it, add it to warm boiled water and grease the bite with the resulting solution. This will relieve skin inflammation and significantly reduce pain.

What to do if a hand swells from a wasp sting?

A moderate and short tumor in the place where the wasp sting visited, is a kind of reaction of the body to the toxin present in it and which has entered the bloodstream. Therefore, after conducting local therapeutic measures, it is recommended to take any antihistamine.

It should be taken for several days until the swelling and redness of the skin are completely eliminated. An antihistamine is taken 2-3 times a day in accordance with the instructions. Before taking, you should familiarize yourself with the contraindications and side effects of the drug.

No drugs should be taken orally without a doctor's prescription for pregnant women, as well as for people with severe diseases of the internal organs, renal failure, a diagnosis of HIV infection, children under 14 years of age.

In what cases should I see a doctor?

A wasp sting is not an obligatory reason to see a doctor. The help of a specialist is only necessary if:

  1. the victim has a sharp deterioration in health;
  2. severe swelling of the tissue at the site of the bite;
  3. extensive urticaria;
  4. the bite is located in the head and neck;
  5. the victim already had a sting like insect, and he had a violent allergic reaction to the poison that fell into the body;
  6. not one, but several wasps stung him at once.

How to prevent wasp sting?

The insect stings a person when he is a danger to him. If a wasp sits on your clothes or skin, you should not wave your hands abruptly, start screaming, much less try to slam it with your hand.

When in contact with an insect, you should behave calmly and not make any unnecessary movements that could frighten him. In most cases, with such behavior, the wasp flies away safely without stinging.

In no case should you try to knock down a hornet’s nest with a stick, anywhere, be it a house or a tree branch. Since in this case the insect will protect its housing and bites can not be avoided.

It should be borne in mind that families of wasps living in nests can have a large number of individuals. The more bites, the higher the dose of poison received by the body, which means that its intoxication is stronger and the healing process takes longer.

  1. When bitten, a bee secretes poison, which adversely affects the human body. A severe allergic reaction can begin, so you should monitor the place of the bite and the health of the bitten, especially if it is a child, because his body is much weaker than an adult. In such a case, suprastin and fenistil always lie in our country house in the medicine cabinet. And at the first symptoms it is better to play it safe and call an ambulance, they will put a dropper and remove the toxin from the body.

  2. And I was bitten by wasps (single bites) more than once or twice in childhood, and a bee bit me. When it was. I might not have spoken about this to adults, but if I was very red and sick, they would apply cold. The rest of the body coped!
    In general, an article on the case and I think that it is hardly worth playing with this case, especially if there are two or more bites at once. And if a violent reaction to the bite immediately begins, immediately call an ambulance or consult a doctor.
    And most importantly - be careful and careful, because the problem can be created out of the blue, especially in the summer and outside the home, where there are a lot of insects quite dangerous, and it's not just stinging
