What to smear after mosquito bites

Hello! They invited me on a hiking trip last month. In nature, we had to spend three days.

However, for some reason only I thought about a possible threat from various insects. Already on the first night, my tent neighbors fell victim to mosquito raids.

The next day they went and itched. How they thanked me for helping them get rid of the itch! Want to know what to smear after mosquito bites? What must be taken into account? I will share with you invaluable information. Now mosquitoes will not be so scary.

How to smear mosquito bites: effective folk remedies

These are simple folk remedies that can be easily prepared at home. So here are some simple but effective tips:

Important!
Lubricate the bite with sunburn ointment (e.g. Panthenol). The principle of action is the same - soothing the skin and relieving inflammation, and itching will also pass.

Apply a little toothpaste to the bite area, ideally it should be a paste with extract of peppermint, menthol or eucalyptus. Flavors soothe the skin and relieve itching. Rinse with warm water after drying.

Lavender, tea tree or aloe vera oil relieves itching well. Oil should be well rubbed on the affected area, do not rinse.

Grind a tablet of aspirin and mix with water until the consistency of the paste. Rub the bite. Do not use this method if you are allergic to aspirin.

Apply ice to the bites for about 20 minutes. You can also make a paste of apple cider vinegar. To do this, mix it with cornmeal until a thick consistency is formed and apply to the affected areas. Leave to dry, then rinse with warm water.

Apple cider vinegar will also alleviate your condition: soak a cotton swab in apple cider vinegar and apply to mosquito bites for a few minutes.

A strong alkaline solution will relieve itching well: mix soda with warm water (one tablespoon per half liter of water) and carefully apply to the bite with clean hands or a cotton pad. After a few minutes, rinse with warm water.

Clean the bite area with alcohol, alcohol wipes, or plain soapy water.

Advice!
If you are keenly responding to mosquito bites, stock up on antihistamine cream or lotion. Ointments containing a combination of antihistamines, painkillers and corticosteroids are especially effective, as this relieves both pain and itching.

Never scratch the affected area! This will not only aggravate the itching, but you can also cause an infection.

The mosquito bit the child: what to do?

In summer, children suffer from mosquito bites most of all, especially very small ones.

Babies have thinner and more sensitive skin, so every bite of a mosquito or midge leaves a large swollen blister on it, which, moreover, itches mercilessly and hurts.

How can I anoint mosquito bites in a child so as not to harm the young body and cause allergies?

Traditional medicine

If the child was bitten by a mosquito, and there are no pharmacy remedies at hand, anoint the place of the bite with dandelion juice and seal it with adhesive plaster or apply a clean bandage so that the baby does not comb the itchy papule. The dressing must be removed after about 3 hours.

Fragrant leaves of the rue have a good effect. Crush them into powder and apply to the affected area. By the way, the root is effective not only for mosquito bites, but also helps to remove swelling and redness if a wasp or a bee has bitten.

Attention!
Rinse a sheet of plantain and apply on the blister after a bite, securing with a bandage or adhesive. This versatile plant rescues with any damage to the skin, a cool leaf relieves pain and itching.

These insects dangerous to humans are activated in the middle of spring and by the beginning of summer their number reaches a peak

You can also cut the bulb and bandage it with a fresh cut to the bite site. He will stop itching, in addition, the wound will be disinfected with onion juice, which means that it will be possible to avoid inflammation.

For the same purpose, you can use cloves of garlic. Mash them into gruel, add a little water, apply to a bite and press with a clean bandage.

If there is absolutely nothing in the house than to spread a mosquito bite on a child, take ordinary sour cream or yogurt from the refrigerator, they are effective not only for sunburn, but also greatly alleviate the symptoms of insect bites.

Diluted with water in a ratio of 1: 1 vinegar (not acetic acid!) Will also help relieve swelling, itching and redness.

An ordinary cold compress will help get rid of discomfort for a short time, until you find a more effective remedy.

A soda solution also gives a good effect - dissolve a teaspoon of soda in a glass of water and smear the bite.

In addition, a bitten place to relieve itching can be wiped with vodka or alcohol, but this method is not suitable for very young children who have too delicate skin.

Pharmacy products

And now let's talk about funds after mosquito bites for children, which are sold in any pharmacy. Do not forget to stock up on necessary preparations before going to the forest or to the cottage!

Important!
The simplest thing that can be thought up in this case is hydrogen peroxide, which must be in any medicine cabinet. It can treat any wound, cut, scratch or insect bite.

Also do not forget complex allergy remedies. For children, they are usually available in drops or tablets. These drugs include:

  • Fenistil
  • Suprastin
  • Tavegil
  • Zirtek
  • Zodak

Specify the dosage in the instructions and at what age can these funds be used. Most of them have been used since six months of age, and some are undesirable to give up to 2 years or more. It is best if your pediatrician prescribes the right medicine for your child in advance.

Drops and tablets are used in cases where the child is worried about severe itching, which prevents him from falling asleep, or he was bitten by a bee, wasp or other poisonous insect. This will help to avoid a severe allergic reaction, up to anaphylactic shock or Quincke's edema.

If the child is strongly bitten by insects (not mosquitoes), then give him an antihistamine and immediately call an ambulance. If we are talking about several mosquito bites, then there is no urgent need to give drops and tablets, you can limit yourself to local remedies.

If a child is bitten by a mosquito, what should be anointed? Modern pharmacology offers many options:

  • Fenistil-gel
  • Mosquitol gel
  • homeopathic remedies Apis and Ledum
  • Psilo balm
  • balm asterisk
  • Cream Lifeguard
  • cream or liquid Eplan

An ointment from mosquito bites for children is usually used from 1 year. Check in advance if the product does not cause an allergy on its own (this happens with Zvezdochka balm and Savior cream, which contain herbal ingredients that are not suitable for allergic children).

Cream for mosquito bites for children is applied directly to the lesion, according to the instructions.

How to anoint a mosquito bite to a child up to a year?

How to handle a mosquito bite in a child who has not yet turned six months old? Not all pharmacy drugs are designed for such a young age, so try traditional medicine, which was mentioned above.

Advice!
Washings with salted water or a solution of soda, aloe juice, gruel from chamomile and parsley, lubrication of the bite with sour cream are suitable.

From pharmacy products, Psilo-Balsam and Fenistil-gel, as well as Irikar ointment (homeopathic) will help the kids. When traveling with a small child out of town, do not forget to use mosquito repellent for newborns.

At the very youngest age, the main emphasis should be on the prevention of bites, since brushing a very small child from head to toe with bite medications (like the bites themselves) brings the baby not so much benefit as inconvenience and the opportunity to get acquainted with an allergic reaction.

Vinegar or perfume. Acetic acid not only effectively drives mosquitoes away, but also reduces discomfort after insect bites. All you need to do is treat the bite site with a few drops of such a liquid.

Important!
If there is no vinegar at hand, then you can try replacing it with a strong alcoholic beverage, salicylic acid, aftershave, deodorant (including dry or ball), or perfume (thanks to the alcohol in the composition).

Effective remedies for mosquito bites for children

A mosquito is a blood-sucking diptera that finds its prey by radiating heat due to its olfactory organs. Only females bite. They need blood in order to be able to reproduce offspring.

The time of activity of the female mosquito is closer to evening and night. They act in this way:

  1. gnaw the prey skin with their jaws;
  2. the trunk is lowered into the wound so that it touches the capillaries that carry blood;
  3. lips suck blood inside.

At this time, they secrete substances that prevent the blood from clotting in a way that is natural to it. Because of the saliva of a female mosquito, a person scratches a bite site, often observing a reddish skin tone or even allergies.

If bites are repeated, for example, all night by different individuals, then the consequences can be sad: headache, nausea, vomiting, general malaise.

Advice!
Not all parents know that little bloodsuckers can bring a child to a terrible state. Many dismiss them, they say we were bitten in childhood and nothing, they are still alive. But child to child are different.

Sometimes the children's immune system is not able to cope with a pathogenic infection introduced into the wound from a bite. A sample list of mosquito-borne diseases looks like this.

Malaria. It is accompanied by fever, chills, convulsions, an increase in internal organs such as the liver and spleen. Anemia usually accompanies. Blame it on malarial plasmodia that mosquitoes carry. The most dangerous thing is that the outcome can be fatal.

Lymphatic filariasis. Parasitic worms penetrate the human body after a bite of a bloodsucker. Filar nematodes enter the human body and are carried along with blood throughout the lymphoid system. Mosquitoes are their carriers. Such a disease can make a person disabled.

Tularemia. This disease is characteristic of rodents, as well as animals of the hare family. It is transmitted through mosquito bites, causes fever, intoxication, and causes significant damage to lymph nodes.

Yellow fever. The disease is dangerous because bleeding is observed in the gastrointestinal tract, body temperature rises significantly, the liver and kidneys suffer. The patient needs quarantine.

Chikungunya. This is a virus that appears on the 5-7th day after infection. The consequences of such a bite are dangerous because fever begins, the joints twist, the muscles hurt. It is also most likely that a rash will appear.

Zika virus. It manifests itself in the form of redness of the eyes, fever, joint damage, rash. They do not die from this virus, but it is most dangerous for pregnant women, as it can harm both their health and the fetus.

Attention!
Japanese encephalitis. Not all cases of infection may be asymptomatic. A person may feel nauseous, subsequently - vomiting and headache.

Further, body temperature can rise to abnormal values. If the infection reaches a severe degree, the nervous system will be affected, and eventually encephalitis.

This is not a complete list of all diseases, the carriers of which are such tiny, but dangerous insects - mosquitoes.

Protective measures

Children most often suffer from mosquito attacks. All this is due to the delicate and thin skin, the proximity of the blood vessels that the bloodsucker feels from afar.

In order not to bring your beloved children to a state of itching, the formation of blisters and not to risk an infectious disease, there are a number of measures that can prevent contact with mosquitoes:

  • Installation of mosquito nets on the windows, crib and stroller.
  • Use of a fumigator (if it is a room), which is inserted into a wall outlet and releases harmful substances to insects into the air.
  • Ultrasound scare. This mechanism propagates certain waves that are harmful to mosquitoes. It can be attached next to the child’s sleeping place.
  • Smearing or spraying baby skin with bite repellents.

Popular among repellents from mosquito bites are considered: GARDEX-EXTREME, MOSKIDOZ, OFF-EXTREME, FUMITOKS, TAIGA-ULTRA.

If you are not a fan of newfangled devices and trust traditional medicine, then use the following tips:

  • prepare a piece of cloth and tie around your wrist. Drizzle oil on it with eucalyptus, basil, cloves, tea tree, cedar. These smells disgust mosquitoes;
  • Dry the field chamomile and arrange next to the resting place. This remedy is long-lasting. In addition to chamomile, use dried needles or juniper;
  • pick a few branches of tomato and keep nearby. The downside is that they must be updated frequently, since only a fresh plant can scare away a little vampire.

Leaving home for a walk, secure your child in advance from a mosquito bite. It is much easier to prevent trouble than to deal with it later.

The first reaction to a bite of a pest is itching. In order to prevent combing of the wound and the penetration of bacteria and viruses there, it should be washed thoroughly with water.

You can use soap. Then wipe with funds from a home medicine cabinet: ethyl alcohol, a solution of boric acid, hydrogen peroxide, furatsilinom, hydrocartisone ointment.

If there are no such preparations, then ice wrapped in fabric must be applied.

It is advisable to purchase antihistamines (Soventol, Fenistil), which are applied to the skin; Suprastin, Loratadin, Fenkarol, which are taken internally.

You can use the homeopathic medicine Ledum. Another equally effective remedy will come to the rescue - Apis. The simplest remedy looks like this: dilute 1 tsp. soda in 250 ml. water, moisten a cotton swab and attach to the bite for 15 minutes. Such an action will relieve itching and reduce swelling.

  1. Folk remedies for some reason do not really help, after a while the bite starts to itch again, and from some itching and does not think to pass (I smear with azudol, everything passes at once

  2. It’s good to smear with an asterisk, both for adults and children, if of course the components of the asterisk do not cause any skin reaction, and so the composition is natural and harmless. If anointed with an asterisk, the bite site does not itch and in my own experience I will say that then mosquitoes bite even less. And most importantly, this is not chemistry and is not harmful to health.
